Risk of Rain (2) - Rooty Tooty Panic and Shooty

This game is fantastic and the BanditClassic mod is A+. I miss Artifacts though. Still waiting for Glass+Spite+Command!
 
I'm surprised by how barren and ancient this thread is. What'd you guys think of um, everything post-2019? I think the DLC was pretty good, I'd like to hear other's thoughts on it.

I generally liked the DLC but I have some complaints. Void Fiend completely falls apart if he picks up the wrong item like a Mired Urn and it makes him less fun, I think credit card is the best equipment but its kind of boring, and even though they claimed they fixed it I keep entering a new stage inside a void bubble and it sucks. Oh and the sulphur pools level is miserable to navigate if you are someone who lacks movement abilities like Captain or REX.

The new final boss was fun once but I never want to do it again.

That said I've become a crack fiend for Mocha and the funny void shrimp. And the voided fuel cell is crazy good. Its so fun playing Acrid and using his spreading poison move as your primary or as Mercenary just living in the i-frame heaven of your anime slashes.

i have been recent playing RoR2 with my friends and it's very fun just collecting random items and see yourself become a monster slaughterer, i only main bandit because he isn't too slow and his abilities are pretty fun like when i just 1 shot wisps beetles and keep on spamming the revolver

i tried out the sharesuite mod with my friend and he managed to become so powerful with desperado that he managed to sweep out mithrix in less than a minute, still haven't gotten everything (like the achievement for the fuel array quest) maybe i'll try to unlock as many things as i can like the artifacts and items

That's the most fun thing, honestly. Playing with friends and trying to unlock stupid shit like rolling those snail niggas off mountains, knowing the run will be doomed for how long it's taking you and joking about it.
 
Risk of Rain 1 will forever be better as a solo game but I've enjoyed the multiplayer in 2 far more.

1 has the benefit of knowing that no matter how slow or fast you complete the level, once you're good enough you can easily grind through it with minimal hassle, 2 feels more like needing to rush through some segments at times.

trying to get the huntresses 2nd special skill is a pain in the ass

Loader is based and I was very upset after getting her alt color.
 
ror1 remake coming out in 2 weeks, new survivor looks fun as shit.
I've sunk 50 hours into it over the last couple days. There's a lot here to like if you enjoyed the original. The Pilot really is a lot of fun and some people have already figured out how to exploit his mechanics for absurd movement tech similar to wave-dashing in Smash Bros. The Providence Trials were a great addition. As much as it still burns that Hopoo sold the IP to Gearbox, you can feel the love in this final RoR project.
 
I love it because I can loop while just listening to podcasts.

Will be interesting to see how the Gearbox design characters and levels work out the second time. The first expansion pack really did not grab me.

Iirc about half the levels in the Survivors of the Void were made by Gearbox. I believe Hopoo said Aphelian Sanctuary was made by Geabox and they said it wasn't the only one. We also got a free alternate first stage made by them about a month ago. They are fine. Especially the newest map. Its a little busy and it's definitely too pastel in its day form but it doesn't clash with the art style of the rest of the game and it doesn't suck to navigate like the Sulphur Pools does, though that map may have also been Gearbox.

I am kind of worried on the character front though. The one they showed kind of feels like a mediocre, half baked modded character. The mini game tied to her special is too slow to be used practically and the rez is a meme since you are expected to use the slow clunky sit still and get killed special 7 times before you can rez someone. That's not going to happen on anything above Drizzle. They've also soft confirmed Chef is returning which to me feels like pandering since he's the most memed for character but it might also be because he's the only Risky 1 OG that the EnforcerGang guy(s) haven't made yet and its hard to compete with those guy's mods. Honestly all their characters are good enough for vanilla.

I'm of the opposite opinion 5 random inputs and theyre all directional is very easy to bang out in half a second, this honestly seems broken.

And yea they seem very "modded" like a moba character introduced much later than the rest with weird gimmicks just to seem unique. The attack from below is going to be very awkward and the idea of using it to hit airborne enemies how they advertise it is absurd.
 
They really fucked this up. They somehow broke things that they had no business touching like how Loader's grappling hook now scales with FPS so she can swing across the entire map at lightning speed if you are running at 100+ fps and can barely move if your fps is shit because, according to the modding discord, they fucked around with what looks at the tick rate and what looks at fps and its fucked up a lot of things as well as them screwing up the modding API which has a lot of modders just abandoning the game. All three characters feel like unfinished mod characters and all three only have only one unlockable skill and they didn't bother giving them the third skin everyone else got. The new items are awful. Some are OP and others are worthless with some of their descriptions, even in the logbook, are wrong. The new elites aren't fun. The gold one is too common and just a boring waiting game when it bubbles and the blue one exists solely to punish your god run by making your Uke bolt crit bounce back to you and killing you instantly. The False Son feels like a beta version of Mithrix and really just makes me want to fight Mithrix instead and I'm not looking forward to grinding him on every character for the skins.

The music is still amazing and I do like all the new stages except the new 5th stage which is too red, dark and vertical and meh and the stage that leads up to the False Son but that doesn't make up for how not good the DLC is. My old, now broken, modlist was a better DLC than this mess was and was more stable even though I had like 80 mods on.
