Mental sickness is not analogous to physical sickness, i.e., the cold or the flu. you need to put in your own work to get rid of mental sicknesses like depression. Yet people (psychiatrists especially

) always treat mental health as if its something that'll just
go away, they think you can just take some SSRI's like its cough medicine and wait a bit, without any input on your part. This is simply not true.
You, and you alone, are the only person who can figure out what will get you out of a depressive episode with 100% certainty. Therefore, you must do what it takes to stop being depressed.
and if you are one of the types that
insist that your depression is incurable, I have a dedicated paragraph for your faggotry;
I remember reading Selco's writeups on his experience living through a siege in Yugoslavia. Despite everything, they still took the time to do some sort of family ritual, like small get-togethers between family, or just giving people gifts for Christmas or birthdays. The point I trying to make here, to you, is NOT that you have it easy. (even if you probably do, but I digress) These motherfuckers were living, scared & worried every day about finding food and simply not dying to people trying to kill them, and they STILL decided to do celebrations; they weren't only moping about their situation, they weren't only complaining to their peers about how sad and depressed they are, they STILL tried their best to find some sort of fleeting hope in one of the bleakest situations anyone in the 21st century could realistically find themselves in. he literally notes how important these small moments of happiness were during his time of immense physical and emotional struggle.
Do you honestly think, for a second, that they would've come out of this any better if they had chosen not to? Because I don't think so.
Likewise, do you think you will find yourself in a better situation if you don't do anything to make yourself feel better, if only for a moment? I
really don't think so.
Take a moment out of your life and figure out what makes you happy- even if only temporarily- and then do it. even if it takes a day. It is worth it.
