I saw some parts of it yesterday and I really couldn't get past the first few minutes. I do love Contrapoints and Iman Khalif is a cis woman, sure. I don't care about that part. It's the way they were arguing about the picture of Iman with her opponent that I just found very grating. It's this picture of Iman with her hand on her opponents shoulder, with somewhat upturned lips that does kinda look like a little smirk (maybe it was an unfortunate camera angle or the timing, I don't know), but they just keep arguing about how she obviously looks like she's consoling her opponent and anybody who interprets her expression as a smirk is a bigot, racist, transphobe, etc. It was honestly jarring.
He's an AGP, so there's a huge chance he's skinwalking as a very specific woman.

I actually expect he gives it some credit, he's dabbled in (probably abused if we're being honest) psychedelics and has mentioned this stuff in his videos now and then. It's not as if identifying with your ego being the source of suffering is a novel idea (lots of western millennials fetishise Buddhism and Taoism and other eastern practices too and he's definitely read into them), and it's one thing to understand these things intellectually vs. experientially. Honestly, I would agree with his assessment about what the purposes of spirituality are, when you strip back all of the other often shitty aspects of organised religions and their cultural contexts and differences.
TBF I didn’t watch it cuz I don’t care about her dramas enough to give her money for some tangent vid but it would be weirdly refreshing to see her take a more neutral stance on anything that isn’t hardcore Atheism. Then again it would make sense because preach new agers are just as common as preachy new atheists. She makes a bunch of tarot/astrology/etc. jokes in her videos so she’s probably familiar with a lot of new agey stuff anyways. Contra doing drugs would both be shocking yet completely expected at the same time, if she wasn’t an atheist she would definitely be following a westernized version of Buddhism imo
