That simply isn't true for all charges.

She could take responsibility for the amount of drugs found, claim to have placed it in the safe without Nick's knowledge, allow Nick to have his charges reduced and potentially get a much better plea deal here.

It is not simply "both of them or none of them"; there are nuances to this and the hearing will decide which charges stay, if they are modified, charges added, or even charges dropped. Just because the investigation and initial charges are identical for them both does not mean one party cannot voluntarily confess to being the primary offender.

This is NOT the actual case being heard, its a pre trial hearing after which it will become clear with what crimes they will be charged by the state and if they accept plea bargains. They have separate case numbers.
