Even if it was that, I'd bet a similar amount to what you're willing to that he couldn't make 9/10 shots within the accuracy that he claims in a prone, unsupported position. I'd be willing to pay a decent amount to see him try. I'm surprised that the neck shot isn't a risk for wounding the animal. I could easily see that shot going wrong. With the point of the shoulder, I'm pretty sure it'll stop the animal even if I got it an inch or two off. I'm skeptical that the neck shot wouldn't run that risk. But if it works for you, good. I've always just gone for a heart shot. Worst case you miss and still get a double lung. I don't mind having to track them a little way but most of the time they drop within a dozen yards if not straight away.
I don't hunt deer with anything under a .308 anymore since I retired my SMLE Lee Enfield (sometimes .338LM if I want to get some use out of my Savage but that round is overkill and over priced even though I reload.) most of the time a good hit with a .308 or .303 Brit you aren't tracking far.
I don't go for head shots because it too easy to miss and end up maiming an animal horrifically.
