Sony hate thread

PS5 still doesn't really have any games.
sometimes sony suck ass, and sometime sony are good. at least they dont go complete tard like xbox.
People have (rightfully) been shitting on the PS5 for having no games but the new Xbox (don't even know the name since they went with a retarded WiiU-tier naming scheme following the 360) manages to have even less reasons to buy it. I think the only reason that Microsoft isn't being shat on more for the dismal state of Xbox is that the Xbone was so disappointing that everyone collectively dropped their expectations to 0 for Microsoft going forward.

Xbox hardly exists as a console at this point seeing as how they've barely sold 21 million units (and that's "sell-through"). Xbox fell off the cliff incredibly hard after the Xbox 360 and has never recovered since, all that remains is a "Netflix for games" subscription service.

Nah, unfortunately the actual problem is that people aren't shitting on the PS5 hard enough.

61.7 million units sold everyone.

Microsoft is expected to show off a bunch of its new “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” video game at Gamescom Opening Night Live tomorrow, and ahead of that an interesting new report has emerged.

Industry insider Nate the Hate, who has a good track record with these sort of things, is claiming that while the Bethesda title will hit PC and Xbox Series X/S in December, it will be only with a timed exclusive window.

After that window expires, the title will come to PlayStation 5 and they expect that version will be in “the first half of 2025” – thus likely a six month window.

This fits in with reports last week that Microsoft is preparing to announce plans to bring another big Xbox exclusive to PS5 with ‘Great Circle’ being the likeliest possibility.

Xbox Series has a budget SKU, backwards compatibility for about half the 360’s library and some of the original Xbox, all with better performance than the original systems, and official-ish support for homebrew and emulators. Even with literally zero focus on exclusivity, it still has more going for it than the PS5.

The Xbox One went from a disaster to redemption arc in a very short timeframe which really carried them from 2015 to 2019.

Current era Xbox, opinions and all, but seems like people just forget it exists. Times are tough again while simultaneously there are plenty of non videogame things to take your attention. If you poke back into games do you even remember Xbox exists?

At this point in this dead in the fucking water console generation - combined they haven't even surpassed a single previous gen console in the PS4 -, I will list the things each console has going for it

Xbox - Gamepass is actually decent.
PS5 - They're easier to remember the name of than the current Xbox
Switch - Nintendo won the Console War by doing nothing, and just doing their own thing, for any fucktards who still cares about the console war. They at least try to remember Vidya is supposed to be Fun.

I'm riding this console generation out on sheer spite before I commit to finally just hopping to PC.

We're at, what, nine console generations? I'd be surprised if we make it to ten. What's next for innovation and progression? Switch 2 MAYBE, but that would just iterate on the original Switch if Nintendo plays their cards right.

No more physical media is the big one. Always online even for single player games. No USB ports or wired devices or external drives. Forced subscription models and no ownership. Streaming games to your console with tons of latency no matter what. Lowest possible quality manufacturing for consoles and controllers so that they constantly break or fail. Advertisements during games. Unskippable advertisements on console startup every single time. Remakes of old games just with advertisements inserted into them.

Most everyone has moved on to PC, and with a lot of videos coming out on Youtube of people building their first gaming PC, I think this going to be the new battleground going forward.

In an ideal world we would stop with what we have and focus on building better games, or we go backwards.
What level of tech can fit inside a console at a launch price of £299? That should be the spec that devs work to and nothing more. Aim consoles at 1080p/1440p at most, with a baseline of 60fps@ultra settings, while aiming for 120fps. Games should cost no more than £45.
If you want the spicier version, go buy a PC and pay £70 for the game.

Nintendo have sort of, defacto copied this formula and it worked out gangbusters for them. For the future of the console industry, less is more.

It's most definitely the new battleground, hence why Xbox hasn't really cared about their console and focused super heavily on GamePass while Playstation is desperate to establish it's presence on PC. Nintendo doesn't care because they've carved out their own market while PC gaming eats away at the high-end console market year after year.

Playstation is desperate to establish it's presence on PC
No no, they've established their presence just fine, they have cemented themselves as the company that makes boring movie games or games as a service that they'll nerf into tedium charged at a premium, seems to be the growing consensus. It's honestly been over for them after the PS2 came out.

The rest of your post is true, but Sony screwed themselves during the PS4 era. Despite a rocky start due to many retarded decisions, the PS3 ended up having a strong finish due to Xbox screwing themselves over with hardware issues and the Kinect debacle. There were a good deal of Sony's first party IPs on the PS3 that had plenty of sequels like Ratchet and Clank and God of War in addition to multiplats, new experimental titles like Heavenly Sword and Japanese games. It was during the PS4 era, they decided they wanted to be a movie studio and make only shitty movie games and games as a service. Sony brought this on themselves too since they could have easily not done that and kept their old audiences to this day. They just fell for a meme and are paying the price.

Xbox has so few games that Sony fans are constantly talking about potentially getting Xbox games.

the PS3 ended up having a strong finish
Honestly, this always feels like such cope. I find it hard to consider something to have a strong finish when it only gets ahead at the end of a generation when everything is at it's lowest price and they're making the least amount of money.

I bought my PS3 in 2012 when it hit its lowest price point. I 90% of my games used at like 10-20 dollars a pop. In fact, I think the *only* new games I bought for PS3 were GTA V and The Last of Us to my eternal shame. (and probably explains why they got such a boner for it, it was probably the most profitable game simply on the virtue of being the last big thing to come out when everyone finally got a PS3)

If Microsoft hadn't completely fucked up and had to piss away their money repairing broken 360's multiple times for free, it'd be a complete embarrassment for Sony.

Honestly, the 7th console generation is probably bigger fuck ups for Sony and Microsoft than anything, but it feels like everyone on here ignores it because they were like fucking 12-16 during it.
