They were owned free and clear. But more recently there were mortgages taken out on one or perhaps both of them.

Wonder what happened to moving his parents into the spare house so he could get muh keedz back on his property? Also why is he putting up photos of a house where his kids potentially live at? I thought that would pose some sort of danger to them and could jeopardize his CHIPS case.

Nick was very quick to describe the hearing as "weird" and to cast aspersions on the judge instead of just admitting that Ty fucked up.

I guess the other possibly is that maybe Nick and Kayla aren't getting along? Like divorce is on the horizon?

Perhaps Nick is refusing to pay Kayla's legal bills, so she wants her half of the house money? This seems less likely. But we know they fight like cats and dogs.

It's definitely an interesting development, especially in the context of Nick's motion to suppress and Kayla's last minute lawyer

I think the most likely explanation is they want to leave town asap
