while not a parent myself, i’d imagine they just refuse to stop holding out hope that there may be some “normal” in him. i mean, it has to be somewhat unfathomable that you poured love and energy into a child that could have ended up in the system most of his life and turned into a person no one could be proud of for any reason. it just probably isn’t easy for them to consider cutting him off completely and forever. they are his one and only lifeline.

You don't have to be a parent to see how hard the cord cut can be. We all know people who deal with mental health, addiction, all around losers etc who just don't get enough a boot.

It's brutal enough to turn your back on a friend, let alone family, then figure a child. Also in case of Rusty, he's deformed and there's no way from his history they don't know he regarded. Even being scum, he's a freak looking sex addict weirdo. You've done everything for 30+ years to avert this car crash that was bound to happen. But still when the rubber hits the road, it's gotta hurt.

From what we've heard his parents have tried, perfect? No folks are. I do feel some pity for them. But I hope they haven't bailed him out, it won't help it. If they did, I hope it was direct to a motel etc.

• Drop all lawsuits against Null. Stop humiliating yourself in court.
• He should work a job, but it must be a job where his contact with women is kept to the barest minimum possible. If it's an online job, his internet usage is to be supervised 24/7. No seething at New Zealanders. No flirting on Instagram.
• No unsupervised trips. Don't want him running off to the brothels or wooing barbers, now do we?

Keep him like that for three or four months, and Kiwi Farms will move on, and he'll be forgotten. The most activity his thread will get is an occasional "to absent friends" post.

Unfortunately, his ego is so stubborn he'll need to be kept on this regime forever. The moment the leash is slackened, he'll go right back to his old ways.

It sounds like you genuinely wanted to change, were remorseful, etc., blah blah blah. We already know that Russell is not capable of this.

In the scenario proposed by @Sexy Senior Citizen, Russell would need to be watched by a hawk by his parents, which would involve him living with them and being subject to their rules. Given all of the shit he's put them through, it would NOT be unreasonable for them to insist upon such conditions in exchange for their support.

The fact that they haven't done so makes me think that they just don't fucking want him back. They'll keep him off the streets and out of jail to the best of their ability, because they committed to love and support this abomination and they take that very seriously... but emotionally, psychologically, mentally, etc., they are DONE. They'll support him monetarily, they'll pay to keep him off the streets/out of jail, but that is ALL.

And, for what it's worth, I don't really blame them for Russell at all. They were trying to help. Maybe they fucked up raising him, maybe they didn't, but his particular sickness is baked into his soul (or lack thereof). The Greers never had a chance and they will pay for their attempted kindness until somebody finally fucking snaps and puts Russ out of his misery.
