I generally agree with you, which is why I raise my eyebrows at the thought of him "taking" votes from Trump.

He's FAR left compared to Trump, for starters. And he turns off the majority of the Democrat lemming base for not being a staunch covidian.

A vote for RFK Jr. is most likely majority independents who are just voting out of protest against the 2-party system. And a small fraction of that is likely Democrat voters who agree with all of the progressive policies but are against the woke narrative, and another small fraction of that is probably idiotic conservatives and lolbertarians who blame Trump entirely on Operation Warp Speed.

Personally, I don't think he makes that much of a sway with voters ... But if people insist that more Trump supporters will go for him and that ends up being correct, then ... I hope Trump gets the endorsement to secure his victory.

I caught Trump on Theo Von’s show, and I was honestly impressed at how well a billionaire ex-president got along with a Louisiana swamp creature. Talked about UFC, a really honest discussion about drug addiction and alcoholism, and Theo asked very good political questions about things he as a voter cares about.
I’ve kind of been thinking for a while that for the younger generations podcasts and Internet shows have replaced what TV was for our parents, and as these shows grow and solidify in a larger audience they will be very important for politics.

I don't know about this specific proposal, but the way I've seen others written in the past, it's on an annual basis. So it looks at the value of stocks on January 1st last year, compares it to the value on January 1st this year, and calculates unrealized gains from there. The other way to do it is 1 year from purchase date.

If they make it annual on the same day for everyone, that is going to absolutely destroy the market as people manipulate it lower for those given days.

It will murder the personal investing market. I bought a little NVDIA a while back. If I had to pay 28% on the gains every year, plus 44% on any I sold to cover the gains, I would have none left. There would be no motivation for individual stock ownership.

And the real killer? What happens to mutual funds and 401ks? If retirement funds and pension funds have to pay on gains they'll barely grow. It would end the stock market.

I don't know how any honest lawyer can look at that case and not go "I see what you did there, but this is still retarded."

They know the New York case is a shitshow and if they tried to order him into prison the only result would be Trump getting more political juice as a martyr, since the order would likely be instantly stayed and then overturned. No benefit, only downside for them even trying. So right now they're just delaying as much as possible before they dismiss the case entirely.

The key thing to keep in mind is that 2016 was decided by less than 70k votes in 3 states, 2020 was a similar margin.

The RFK endorsement would move voters from a few groups:

• Single issue anti-vax mandate voters
• Voters who would vote for Trump but don't like his vax cheer-leading
• Independents who are looking for a "fake because" for Vote for Trump
• Demoralized Dems who hate Kackles and are looking for a "fake because" to stay home
• Kennedy family stans who will follow the lead of RFK (he's really the last high profile Kennedy)

So when talking about the impact of an RFK endorsement here's the only question to ask:

If you are factoring for both added votes and potential (D) voters who subsequently stay home, the 70k mark will almost certainly be surpassed.
