Kids lack critical thinking, I don't dabble much on this topic but I consider it very important. It makes me sad when they can't even answer simple reading comprehension problems.

If he was at least somewhat objective I wouldn't care but this guy just sounds gullible. I have friends who are clearly liberal but they don't really talk about it aside from a few mentions and I'm alright with that. I don't usually care about people's political beliefs but these guys seem more like "I'm not like my family, I'm a liberal and those Republicans are terrible" type rather than "I thought about it and I'm liberal but I don't really care what you are." They started talking about the insults Trump/Harris have been throwing around and thought that Walz saying "Trump is weird" is somehow better than "Harris' laugh is weird."

You're definitely right when you say that people lack critical thinking, but they probably also misunderstand what critical thinking even is. The bare minimum would probably be "look up other sources and see what they have to say," but there's also an aspect of "at least try to see things from their point of view even if you clearly disagree." These people don't do that and believe they have some sort of superiority because they believe what the government wants them to and don't believe what their parents do.
