Maddox / George Ouzounian / George Schnoz - OG Internet blogger, Author of the NYT bestseller Alphabet of Manliness, Cohost of the Biggest Problem in the Universe, Filer of the Lolsuit. MADDOX BLAST!

I think a big factor in Maddox's loss of relevance is the fact that when he was at his prime of popularity, around 2004 to 2006, he more or less disappeared and stopped updating. Apparently it was because he had a whole host of projects that never went to fruition, but when he finally came back to regular updates, he stopped publishing his off the cuff rants and began publishing serious business boring shit that he has continued to this day. That and he began focusing on YouTube, and to be frank he just sucks at making videos, which his articles nowadays simply serve to compliment. Even TheAmazingAtheist has more relevancy and makes more money online than he does, and that's saying something. And he kinda reminds me of AIU on YouTube, who didn't realize his fanbase was a bunch of Trump supporters and went ape shit. Maddox seems to have attracted a more right-wing base, and is dismayed that they don't like his rants against right wing sacred cows and political figures (though this also shows the stupidity of his fanbase. Why did they think the child of Syrian immigrants would be happy and supportive of people demonizing Syrian refugees?) I find all of this amusing.

I'm surprised that podcast was a golden goose for him (judging from what everyone here has said, I imagine his last one) because it was really boring like the rest of his stuff nowadays. Even more surprised Dick Masterson was the stronger part of the duo. It's pretty amusing how it blew up in his face, and the discrepancy between the money Dick Masterson makes and Maddox makes is just embarrassingly funny. How the mighty have fallen. I respected his desire to never have ads on his website, but now that he apparently floods all the rest of his shit with ads and sponsers, I don't see the point. Having no ads served him well when he had a good paying IT job, but now that he barely makes even online, maybe he should just sell out totally. Or get another job.

And his two books AFAIK were pretty successful, I wonder why he doesn't focus on that? Then again, he does denounce his first book, which just makes this all the more retarded and funny. How much does his website cost? I wonder if he'll even be able to afford it for much longer.

On his shitty online store, Maddox is trying to hawk a new T-shirt that features a design plainly revealing how butthurt he still is over the Cuckening. I highlighted the key phrases in yellow.

You can tell his current commercial and creative endeavors must be failing right now because if things were going well, he wouldn't have to resort to these kinds of passive-aggressive digs to make himself feel like the bigger and more successful man. But instead his social media metrics are crumbling all around him, so this kind of pussywhipped shit-flinging is all he has left to validate himself.
Why would anyone want to buy a thshirt with someone else's personal failings on it? most people don't have a podcast that ended or a sleazy business partner they had a fallout with in 2016.

sleazy business partner they had a fallout with in 2016.

Who's the business partner?

I don't think it was posted yet, so here is another amusing snippet from the old days. Around September of 2015, Maddox was making a Blender tutorial for his Twitch stream, and his choice of 3D modeling subject matter gravitated towards the autistic.

The final product:

That Sonic head took him something like 70 hours to make, and he was embarrassingly proud of it, getting unreasonably defensive when everyone starting shitting on it. People thought it was purposely a poor rendition, but he showed it off expecting to be lauded for his great 3D modeling skills and got massively butthurt when they didn't.

Digging himself deeper into the hole of online mockery, he doubled down and tried to make a 3D printed model of it

And when he finally realised people weren't going to stop shitting on his Blender models, he tried to turn his bad 3D modeling skills into an unfunny forced meme

That is surely some top tier streaming content

I've seen this before. I thought Maddox was actually referencing Chris Chans screaming totem pole. Didn't realize it was just Maddox's equivalence. Wow. Looks worse than the stuff Really3D makes on purpose.

Maddox just seems allergic to success. He couldn't parlay his early internet fame into anything bigger. He brags about not having ads on his websites despite it being one of the dumbest fucking moves ever. And when life gave him a second chance with the podcast, he sabotaged that.

And while he gives off an attitude like he doesn't care about success, he moved to LA for it and lives in a dumpy apartment and does shitty local sketch comedy in hopes of making it big one day.

Damn, I am out of the loop. He lives in an apartment in LA and does sketch comedy?

Him not having ads made sense from a no censorship stance, but it only really made sense money wise when he lived in Utah and had a decent job. Now he has no job in LA, and he tries flooding all the rest of his shit with ads anyway.

Dick I assume.

"Allergic to success" seems an apt description. I never understood why he he stopped updating for so long. What was he doing? I always wondered and now it just seems after quitting his job he did... nothing, really.

I've noticed with a lot of mommybloggers/housewife type bloggers, once they make enough money from their blog they tend to quit their other jobs and the content starts going downhill. this is kind of like that except he didn't even have a kid or anything else to use as an excuse.

I find I'm most productive at secondary ventures when I'm working full-time. even though it takes up a significant part of the day, it provides structure. I suspect maddox is the same way but hasn't really realized it yet.

Dick I assume.

You said sleazy business partner. Did you mean Dick Masterson? Im only asking because I don't know the details at all, I never listened to the podcast and find Dick Masterson pretty boring

Hasn't been posted yet, so here are some old photos of Maddox's cringeworthy attempts at "cosplay". The first photo is from a few years ago when Maddox was at Comic Con for UCB's Tournament of the Nerds comedy programme. He is genuinely very proud of this homemade costume. In episode 23 or 24 of the old podcast, he said it took him several hours to devise this costume and he went on at length talking about his whole creative process for coming up with the design and manufacture of it.

The next few photos are from Maddox's trip to Anime Con several years ago.

This costume also allegedly took several hours of preparation, though you probably wouldn't guess that from seeing it.

Maddox vacillates between claiming these are shitty zero-effort costumes intended to troll legit cosplayers and being inordinately proud of the hours of work he invested into making the supposedly zero-effort costumes, but I suspect his real feelings lie closer to the latter.

Where did he brag about these costumes? It seems likely he's just dressing very shitty on purpose. Also, where's him chimping out about the 3D Sonic abomination?

I'm actually not surprised by this. Dick was a god tier troll who was looking at a 2nd book getting published until some strong independent womyn who don't need no man black balled him from getting professionally published professionally again. Guy knows how to rustle jimmies (and has been blacklisted from almost every social media outlet as result).

Men are better than women is a satire classic. It's easily my favorite comedy book and honestly should be reading in lit classes as an example of 'poe's law'.

Guy has a cult following like you wouldn't believe. Add to that Dick LOVES to be the bad guy and you got a perfect recipe for comedy gold. Maddox seems to want to become a political pundant and youtard celeb, but with the Maddox edginess he lost. Basically now he uses his edginess to get out of when he makes a mistake or to drive home a retarded point he couldn't by being serious.

I finally realize something during this thread. Maddox has always been terrible at satire and that's why his skills have failed to translate over. Maddox's whole schtick is being infallible and defending points of view that piss people off, and through careful framing and editing he was able to do that. Much of what he says isn't satire (which is fine, it worked for him), it's just him justifying his views through a lens of infallibility. What few satirical articles he has (April fools jokes, tips for kids safety, how to kill himself, etc.) are just Maddox writing in opposite land of the infallibility angle.

For as self aware as he is, he really should have been self aware enough to see this as a flaw transitioning to a IRL format and figured out a new way of not fucking up what he had going on.

Damn, I am out of the loop. He lives in an apartment in LA and does sketch comedy?
Worse, improve troop and youtube sketches.

Wasn't Maddox the sleazy one?
Yup, if you read through the financials you end up finding out Maddox actually owed Dick $5,000+ in unpaid labor. Dick just chucked up to "the entertainment industry" and was willing to eat the loss to keep the show going while Maddox bitches that he was getting screwed out of his shekkles because 'muh accounting discrepancies' (then never released any financials to back his claim).

I mean, I kept reading him up until his past dozen or so articles. Even his occasional video wasn't that bad. I never bothered with the podcast though, there are way better people to listen to ramble in the background.

I think I first noticed the cracks in his shtick in his bike haters article/video.

Like @TakeDownMan notes, Maddox wasn't ever really going for satire. His shtick was arguing his point aggressively and presupposing he's already correct, in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Most of the time, his readership agreed with him, so his style was pretty entertaining.

But with the bike haters article, even though I agree with his central argument, he kind of starts to capitulate to car drivers towards the end. Once he capitulates, even a little bit, he stops being tongue-in-cheek. And then all that's left is essentially a sober version of the drunk guy in a bar arguing his point.

At this point, he's just being a blustery nerd dude who thinks he's got it all figured out. All he needs is a banana in the ass and he's amazing atheist.

Agreed. Some of his videos are cool, but most are just boring. I shouldn't say they're "terrible" but they don't leave me wanting to come back for more. Same with his latest articles/blog posts.

He comes off as a tryhard troll with a bit of autism. He's also just really boring, but then again so is Maddox when it comes to rambling in the background. Apparently he makes all his money appealing to people butthurt over rabid feminists, maybe Maddox should jump on this bandwagon. Still, surprised this guy came out on top.

The money Dick makes from his book sales, merchandise, and Patreon is chump change compared to the annual salary he draws as VP of the tech company he co-founded, but it's not really fair to factor that in when comparing him to Maddox, whose only source of income is from his various online creative endeavors and merchandise.

(though this also shows the stupidity of his fanbase. Why did they think the child of Syrian immigrants would be happy and supportive of people demonizing Syrian refugees?)
The thing is, you can "agree to disagree" with your fans on specific political issues and not make it a big deal. When you react like a children throwing a tantrum because people voted for meanie Trump (ignoring WHY they voted for him), you'll lose those fans. Nobody likes to be preached to, specially not by some sort of internet subcelebrity.

Oh he's a silicon valley parasite? I didn't know this. I wonder why he needs Patreon money then

I can understand him getting angry, given he's Syrian, and the president-elect is calling Syrians fleeing violence terrorists and monsters. I find it more humorous he didn't know his fanbase were Trump weens. I also forgot that some of his most famous articles back in the day were mocking anti-immigration hardliners, so all of this is even more baffling and humorous to me.

In their running feud, one of the big contests between Dick and Maddox is which one can pay a bigger salary to Sean, their mutual audio engineer. The Patreon is pretty much Sean's salary from Dick at this point, and whatever's left over goes into paying for the segments or airfare of other contributors to his podcast.
