Don't question the logic with SJWs. To them, animal with a different tail must mean they must be intersex. What's intersex about having a different tail? You could say they had a genetic defect, yes. But the genetic defect of a fictional creature is widely different compared to a human having two sets of genitals that they aren't meant to simultaneously have. This comparison just... makes no sense when you think about it more.

And if I recall correctly, I don't think trainers will care what gender their Pokemon is. They'll just care about either having a companion to care for or questionably consent them into beating up other Pokemon until one sides gives themselves out. At most, if a trainer sees a Pikachu with a strange tail, they'll most likely be impressed about it and brag about it to other trainers about how ultra rare their Pikachu is. If it's the latter, it's not gonna be related to gender. They just thought a Pikachu with a strange looking tail wasn't interesting for them.

I will never understand intersex pride or whatever, they're a very very small minority, plus it's an actual proven genetic defect that gives 0 benefits and if anything it's an inconvenience. They also most of the time identify as either male or female and most of the time they're also "cis" (for the lack of a better word) because the body still will develop as female or male. They just have weird genitals.

Thinking about it more, it seems more like it is to give a biological basis to transgenderism than homosexuality. It’s like it is meant to be associated with transgenderism, when it is entirely different. I feel terrible for people with chromosomal disorders or ambiguous genitalia being lumped in with the transgenders.

To be fair canon is NOT consistent with how smart Pokemon actually are, but it's still really weird for a Pikachu to get dysphoria when there's pretty much almost zero meaningful sexual dimorphism within Pokemon, except for like Frillish, and even then, it's just a color change.
Plus, it's really hard to believe there are people out there altering Pikachu tails for no reason. What, are they gonna find a nurse joy with a pair of scissors? Matter of fact, there are barely ANY Pokemon that are permanently altered by humans except for Genesect, which was Team Plasma's doing, and they revived a fossil for it, not some random bored trainer who felt like changing his Pikachu's junk. Even Slowpoke Tails, which are eaten, are said to actually break off harmlessly and even regrow.
I know I'm being autistic as hell about this, but the metaphor reallly breaks down when you try to apply the comic's concept to Pokemon's actual setting.

Imagine that pikachu gets a very competitive minded trainer, discovers it has bad IVs and just throw the thing in the garbage.

Now that I think about it, if Pikachu tail surgery was a real thing, there'd be at least a FEW battle autists who'd alter their tails to be longer so Iron Tail is more effective or something. Spiky tails would probably even be preferred over the blunt ones.
