Because he did that, he like them got targeted. He took it, again. he loved it fundraising on it. But then he realized the people whose admiration he really sought (Larry Hama, Claremont, etc) were now not only against him, but now hated him and he desperately wants to be 'legit'.

I'd say it's RedLetter Media AVGN syndrome but it's worse. Because those guys didn't get into culture war, they were 1st gen YouTubers. Meyer SPECIFICALLY came in KNOWING it was culture war; loved it when he was an IT bitch, then turned after realizing his dream of being one of the club wasn't going to happen ever.

His position in ComicsGate was helped a lot by him being a Marine combat veteran who served in Afghanistan, more than the comics he was making. The other thing was the shocking decline of the American comic book industry. There was a whole media organized around the idea that the terrible comics that were coming out were not only great but better than the comics that came out in the past. So, almost anyone who was willing to take on that narrative despite the attempts at intimidation by those people would get some clout.

The trouble is the gang that was protecting the those comics at the time decided he had to be crushed when he tried to get a publisher for the comics he was making. If they had just let Antarctic Press publish his books (since it seems like they wanted to) and not called them to threaten them, he would have faded into obscurity, I think. He would certainly not have made as much money as he did with crowdfunding (probably), and he wouldn't have been the guy "fighting the power."

The cracks started appearing whenever he would talk about Lucasfilm and have been going on for a long time. He has weirdly always jumped to the defense of Kathleen Kennedy a woman who would probably have him roughed up by security if he somehow found his way into her office.

Nah, Zack 1.0 (Rabbit hutch in NYC with hunting knife chopping up the latest issue of X Men and throwing it in disgust behind his radiator), the version he's gone to some length to scrub from memory, was a very different creature than what he later became, and is now. If he acted back then the way he is acting now he'd have gotten a few hundred subscribers tops and probably faded from memory in short order. Perhaps I'm wrong in the sense that inertia has seemingly propelled Zach along far longer than I honestly ever would have thought it could, so there is that.

Curiously, Zack 1.0 was the version Cecil parodied at first when he pretended to be an SJW with a shredder, shredding early Fantastic 4 issues over the latest iteration of Squirrel Girl or something.

I think Zack had faded from most people's memory for a long time now. He stopped becoming relevant to CG the moment he didn't give the rest of CG a triumphant happy ending against Waid like they wanted and some even paid a lot of money to see. That's when people begin to realize that the real Zack is nowhere close to the fantasy CG Hero-God Zack that he was built up to be.

I mean, people only talked about him now because we're all bored of Ethan's obsessive Lifetime movie "The Wrong Comic Maker"-style hatred for July and someone noticed how Zack had quietly become unhinged. If Ethan had been entertaining, we probably would still not notice nor care what Zack is doing. It's even worse outside - no one cares about him, not even the people he is attacking. Truly irrelevant, and kinda sad way for a hero's journey to end.

I missed the rabbit hutch phase, but it'd probably be more interesting to me that whatever Zack was even during his peak CG era. Hell, I find this unhinged Zack to be far more interesting than I ever found him in the past!

Zack was at his best when he had just released Jawbreakers and his lawsuit was going forward. As I said before, I do not blame him for settling the lawsuit as some things are beyond one 's control. He was dependent on SJWs being outraged at him. The lawsuit was peak but it also scared his detractors from engaging with him as there would be (justifiable) consequences for harassment. Since the SJWs were not willing to talk about him anymore, he should have gone to network with like-minded people but he was too autistic (I mean that literally) for that as what he likes was too narrow and divisive. He remained on the sinking ship that is American Comicbooks (which is the sick man of a greater sick man that is Western Woke Entertainment) instead of mixing things up with other stuff like most others did. Now he is insulting his audience to defend his waifus and dissing the only popular people that decided to throw a bone at him while he is a deadbeat dad one step from homelessness.

Ironic. He is almost at the exact same situation as the purse puppies he used to mock and the people he decries as clowns are (to paraphrase "The Simpsons") sleeping in their big beds with their wives. And then he wonders why people are siding with them over his broke ass. Crazy.

Zack 's biggest flaw seems to be his inability to commit to his relationships. Social, parasocial, professional, sexual, familial, it matters not. He gets bored, leaves and is left all alone in an uncaring world that has no patience for this kind of bullshit while not being charismatic enough to get away with it long term. His only hope seems to be marrying a rich older woman who will give him all or half of her fortune depending whether or not she dies or divorces him. That or a return to the military possibly due to a draft. Considering what happens in the world, he might get what he wants.

EDIT: after a closer look it appears the last stretch goal for extra accessories was at $200k so I'm willing to bet money that he had IGG juice the total over $200k to save face since those add-ons were already in production. Hi, recently re-read the Jaws novel. The movie takes the most important beats from the book, namely the first few kills, and doesn't go into the batshit 70s trope of mafia rules the small town storyline as to why they try to forget about the shark attacks. The movie also leaves out the completely unnecessary adultery side-plot with Brody's wife and Hooper. It also adds some stakes to the three men being out on the boat for days, as opposed to the book that has them come to shore every night. Hooper also dies in the novel, and has another weird Mayor wanting to fuck Brody's wife and her caring more about him leaving town than Hooper dying. The novel is bizarre, and the changes made for the movie only make the story better. Still an interesting read.

Firstly, Snow White is barely on anyone's radar and mostly held up as an example of how incompetent Disney has become. This is a studio who cut the 7 Dwarfs, the central characters in the story that make it unique, from the movie and replaced them with a cast of diverse freaks because ONE midget who was big at the time with a chip on his shoulder bigger than he is decided to spew some stupid shit about how "backwards" the story is and that the Dwarfs "lived in a cave." And then when Disney realized nobody is going to go see Snow White and the 7 Diverse They/Thems they tried to course correct and CGI in the Dwarfs. But they still fucked up because Snow White is rewritten to be an unlikable bitch and is being played by an equally unlikable bitch that looks nothing like the character she's supposed to be playing. FFS, the actresses in Disney's Parks are hired based on how much they resemble the characters they're portraying, but somehow this chick gets cast.

I honestly used to think it was some newspeak for critical thinking. When I was in school we'd do Literature and we would get asked for interpretations of poems, prose and stuff like that. Same thing for History, we'd get asked things that weren't explicitly stated in the book and were based on our understanding of what we read. They'd call those critical thinking questions.

I'm still not sure what media literacy actually means and why it has to be separate from critical thinking, very sus.
Especially when you have subhumans like RCM that bring up media literacy in the context of people saying Mark Hamill isn't really a star.
