You love to see it, with each spoilered quote of the posts you can see the viewpoint get more and more extreme as ground is ceded and the frog pot slowly reaches a boiling point. I know these aren't even the same people posting but when you put it together like that it illustrates the slippery slope in effect. Amazing and yet horrifying. I've got a theory. I think the fundamental flaw of their arguments is mistaking perceptions and definitions for being the same thing as reality. Perceiving yourself to be something doesn't mean you are that thing. Others perceiving you to be something doesn't make you that either. Things do exist and have properties beyond peoples' ability to define or perceive them. Changing perceptions or definitions doesn't alter their fundamental essence. It's essentially magical thinking, that if you just believe hard enough and rearrange definitions, you can become whatever you want.
It comes across as insane because it is. They don't believe reality to be concrete. You can see why these delusions become more extreme because there is nothing anchoring them at all. It's also built on a binary foundation. Every view has to be valid, else none of them would be.

I haven't come across many of those trans-species furries outside of "in all aspects except physical I'm a wolf" actual lolcows. Even among the most degenerate zoophillic furfags, they usually cope by inventing consent as opposed to saying "I'm a dog too" and claiming it makes it alright.
Even in the hyper-liberal sphere I'd expect the cross-species identity argument not to stick too much because it can't be construed as a social construct. What you may see flying is some kind of animistic pagan bastardization, which isn't very common: you have to be religious enough to believe in a soul, and that animals posses them and that somehow things got mixed up, but you are somehow still observably rational and human.
Personally, I think the lack of backlash to that specific flavor of lunacy is more due to liberal leaning people being mortified of being seen as in the "wrong side of history" in a tweet/etc. (by deriding a mentally ill individual) 6 years down the line when they get their whole life examined in detail by some terminally online person over some unimportant disagreement. It's the kind of opinion they'll share with you over a beer, not one that they'll put down in writing.

They aren't too unusual a sight within circles of high furry populations. It's a subcommunity that really doesn't like being visible, and generally tries its hardest to avoid drawing attention to itself. The relatively sane know well enough to simply not be public about it outside of a self-identifying label on their public-facing profiles, at most. The ways they self-identify keep changing every decade or so due to the sheer volume of lunatics that end up donning their labels, shitting up their spaces, and in general make a given label an outright embarassment to publicly carry.
"Otherkin" and "therian" are two prominent examples of this. Circles under those labels dedicated to the concept of identifying as non-human generally tried their hardest to keep out kids, idiots, and other bad apples. But since social media tags (the primary method for the comparatively insane to congregate) are far more publicly visible, those labels ended up completely redefined by attention-seeking teenagers, trend-chasers, and individuals of a far greater degree of delusion. Any attempt to suggest alternate terms or otherwise publicly point out what's happening usually leads to being dogpiled (debatably literal) for the crime of gatekeeping. After a few years, the ones responsible for redefining a given label proceed to aggressively push out those who use the label to self-identify as non-human. Any attempt to point out the original coining of a term is met with denial and accusations of ableism.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a more concise descriptor of that phenomenon, as there's many similar cycles I've seen across internet communities.
Currently, non-human identification is in a transitory state where there simply isn't a collectively agreed-upon label at the moment. The number of relatively sane people using "therian" has been steadily dropping ever since TikTok started popularizing the term. Some opt for the more sophisticated "alterhuman". Some quirky fellas use "trans-species" (Sadly, most donning that label are just trolls). Some have reverted to how self-identification of non-humanity went back in the Usenet days, of simply saying "I am a [species]". Some simply use "non-human".

I just like dressing like a girl because girls are cute and I want to look cute. The fact people legitimately believe putting on a dress and shooting up some drugs will make them an actual girl is mind boggling to me. I'm all for people having fun. But none of that changes what you are born as. This is why i separate myself from troons. I'm Trans because I think passing as a woman is cool. I'm not going to pretend I'm suddenly an actual woman.
