Dustborn - The Latest and Biggest DEI Flop to Date that No One Asked for!

I wanted to do a Steamchart comparison between this game, Night in the woods and Goodbye volcano high, just for the fun of it.

I'm playing it because reasons and much like Concord, holy fuck this is bad. The writing is droning, mentally unwell genderspecials. There's a couple of legitimately relatable things in there- several jobs plus a hustle, still can't make rent. But everything is overshadowed by the sheer awfulness of the gameplay and the genderspecial bullshit.

The main cast are manipulative, morally bankrupt genderspecials who seem to talk about sex a lot without actually having any. They're having meltdowns every other minute. The vitiligo blob is also a muslim without a hiyab so I don't think they even did the cursory research. The pooner is underdeveloped. The man I figure will doublecross them at some point and is also disdainfully referred to as a MAN at points. Even though he's pretty soylent.

The fighting is discount god of war. And you level up by being the literal thought police. Scan for bad thoughts and capture them in your meme machine. The animations are atrociously bad. I'm not too far in yet but I don't think this trainwreck somehow makes it to the station.

Someone tell woke devs already that Life is Strange only succeeded the way it did because it was a filmgame with teenage lesbians in it. Men were bound to find that fascinating. Pax is an unlikable nigress with shitty tattoos who munches on the nonbinary muff. Noam doesn't even seem to be more than a zippertit woman. Even trying to be deliberately woke to the point of provocation, safe bargain bin lesbians is the best they could do.

I'm trying to play her as a good person and seemingly it's impossible. She's always a bitch, but she also gets over her issues really fast. In chapter one she throws a tantrum about having to work with a robot, gets gaslit by the pooner to get over it, and after that it turns out she just doesn't like robots very much and is fine with the whole thing.

I think it's a great time for political commentary in games tbh. The class struggle has never been rougher, and the situation seems to be in shambles all around, but it seems like we're stuck with identity politics instead. Does anyone really give a fuck if a person wants to think they are a cat? It's crazy that you have to stand for that if you also want a living wage. Clownworld fucking sucks and I want off this crazy ride.

I looked up what it is and I'm pretty good friends with a guy with vitiligo. Once we saw another guy with vitiligo just walking in public. They instantly got along. Other than that he was a completely normal person.

I believe you're right. Back when Dreamfall Chapters came out I was following Ragnar Tørnquist on twitter, and I saw that he regularly followed and interacted with games journalists. As we know, games journalists are some of the dumbest (and highly educated) shitlib retards you can find, so these will have informed his thinking of what is expected and acceptable. His writing style is by his own admission inspired by Joss Whedon and Neil Gaiman. I remember Edward Dutton said that a trait of intelligence is being able to read the room and conform. This is probably why that other dev on the team asked "why do you care?" when someone pointed out the stolen designs from GTA 5. Journalists have taught this team to hold "gamers" in utter contempt, because they caused #gamergate, which led to Trump and constant complaining that the right wing are about to put trannies in death camps. If only it were so! Just looking at the length, Dustborn is high effort, and is so remarkably offputting and disgusting because Ragnar Tørnquist left no detail to chance. On their website Red Thread Games say they're making games for a Global and Diverse Audience, ie everyone coming in on boats funded by NGOs to replace us, like they sing in the Dustborn lyrics. It's like The Camp of the Saints! Except this time, it's a good thing.

It's been a really rough fucking year for DEI initiative games so far.
I'm sure the target audience they're going for are all playing the game, the whole 83 of them if I can believe SteamDB.

Can't wait for October to see DA: Gayguard spectacularly fumble the bag and have their tranny director, a.k.a the 'Queerosexual Gendermancer' get BTFO'd by the board of directors at EA and witness the meltdown blaming transphobes for not playing a game they don't feel like wasting 60-80 bucks on tranny fanfics of pre-established characters.

Extremely optimistic but, what if this game is some kind of high IQ 4d underwater backgammon move to make fun of woke stuff. I know it's not true but this shit really is that cartoonish.
