US soldier Travis King, who fled from South to North Korea before being returned home, will plead guilty to desertion and other charges, his lawyer has said.

The army filed 14 charges against Mr King for the illegal crossing in July 2023. He plans to enter a guilty plea to five charges, including desertion and assault, as part of a plea deal.

"He will plead not guilty to the remaining offenses, which the Army will withdraw and dismiss," his lawyer Franklin Rosenblatt said in a statement to BBC News.

His plea and sentencing hearing will take place on 20 September at a military base in Fort Bliss, Texas.
"Travis’s guilty plea will be entered at a general court-martial," Mr Rosenblatt said in an emailed statement on Monday.

"There, he will explain what he did, answer a military judge’s questions about why he is pleading guilty, and be sentenced."

Mr King is grateful to support from his family and friends and to all those who did not "pre-judge" him based on the allegations, the lawyer added.

Charges expected to be dismissed as part of the plea deal include possession of child pornography.

Pvt King has been in the army since January 2021 and was in South Korea as part of a unit rotation when he crossed into North Korea.

Prior to that incident, he had served two months in detention in South Korea on charges that he had assaulted two people and kicked a police car.

He was released from custody on 10 July - eight days before he crossed the country's border with Pyongyang.

His release deal was brokered by Swedish officials, who brought Pvt King to North Korea's border with China.

Little is known about how he was treated in North Korea, why he fled there in the first place, and why Pyongyang expelled him.

The US has said it made no concessions to secure his release.

I graduated somewhere around 2008, so it's been a while but talking with friends that still live close by the county still basically is the same as ever. But that's to be expected, it's part of rural Appalachia.

I graduated mid 2010's. I did class observations for uni for my teaching credentials and things were changing fast, especially seeing how discipline was being mishandled due to progressive policies and hearing how rowdy the new generation of students were from old teachers. Exactly. Why isn't the constitution absolute law when it comes to the government? And it should be strictly enforced. Anyone in the government who is involved with violating the 1st amendment should receive a massive prison sentence. Especially the President.

As much as I agree that there should be charges for violating the constitution, the problem is who will enforce it? They are their own Judge (all federal judges are appointed by the government), Jury (Congress oversees impeachment and are biased as all hell), and executioner (Prosecutor is also picked by the feds). If we create an oversight branch it won't work because all its members will be appointed (favoritism and usual deep state corruption), or elected (besides the problem of rigging which leads to the former problems, keep in mind voters are retarded). All we really have to enforce the constitution is 2A, hence the gun grabbing agenda.

Pre-Covid it wasn't unusual for schools districts to close the schools for a deep clean if a lot of students were sick. I wouldn't look too deep into it unless we hear noises from the NEA/NEA adjacent folx about school shut downs.

I was reluctantly listening to Hannity on the radio yesterday and the newsbreak from Townhall.com stated that the debate was in jeopardy because Trump was criticizing ABC. Next sentence was that his team and Kamala's were still hammering out the details. Then I come here and read that she wants notes and a seated debate, which wasn't mentioned during the newsbreak from a conservative news site on a conservative radio show on a conservative radio network. That is the state of journalism, frens.

I don't think Kamala's team is trying to keep her in the closet/basement/bunker as much as she is the one refusing to speak to the press. This is just my gut speaking but she's doing the least when it comes to campaigning and completely zero when it comes to governing/leading. She's just here for the adulation, perks, and glamour photo shoots, period. All that other stuff is like, ew, work.
