Alex should have titled her last vlog as How NOT to pack a hospital bag for labour and delivery. While she packed her makeup, SPF (why…does she think the nurses will rub sunscreen on her calves to stop those bright hospital lights from burning her delicate skin) shampoo, conditioner and body wash, there was no deodorant, comb or hairbrush to be seen. She didn’t buy the obvious button thru nightgown, instead opting for two piece PJs. I guess no-one has told her that bottoms are a PITA given how often she’ll be checked down there. Nightgowns are far more practical, give much better modesty, and the sooner you can ditch the dreadful hospital gowns, the sooner you can feel more human again.
While I’m not completely anti the snacks, they’d be better packed in Yar’s bag, because she won’t be eating them until after delivery anyway, with her Always Discreet postpartum diapers going in her bag if she’s required to provide her own (doubtful).
“It felt scarier than, like, packing for a vacation or something; just bc it’s birth”.
That was just such a ridiculous comment to make. While not desirable, she could rock up to the hospital with nothing but the clothes she’s standing in, and still be okay and provided with her needs. It happens. Yar can go home and pick up anything she needs once the kid is out if need be. If she has a caesarean then he’ll be in scrubs for the delivery. Speaking of which, why does Yar need a hospital bag? Is he going to be staying there as well, unable to leave her until she’s discharged. FFS, is she not going to let him go home to shower and change, maybe feed Bruno, and grab something to eat. I hope they have plans for Bruno while she’s in hospital, and I really wish she wouldn’t refer to Bruno as Baby Boy’s big brother.
ETA: Meant to add that in the previous vlog, after comments called her out on her Alani (?) Witches Brew energy drinks, Alex said she asked her OB if she could have them, and claims they okayed it. The actual cans have a warning that they should not be consumed during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
ETA 2
I’m not normal but I got all weird about not knowing what to bring and just didn’t bring anything and I was totally fine. I wasn’t gonna bring tennis balls in socks that was just too stupid lol. I was there five days and just wore their gowns and switched to a clean one. Wore the clothes I wore in home.
I had a bag packed, but circumstances meant it was in the backseat of my car until after delivery. Hubby bought it in later. In my day though, we had to provide baby’s disposable nappies and mum’s sanitary napkins, so we did have to have a hospital bag packed. They told us at the pre-natal classes exactly what needed to be in them.
