The new movie completely abandons that POV because (most) women can't rationalize it.

As someone that reads women's fiction and romance as well as women's romcom, I can say with some degree of confidence that the women in charge of today's girlboss are the ones that can't rationalize it.

The hero's girlfriend or wife knowing his true identity is a form of female power fantasy, one that you see in romance all the time. She has power over the guy with super powers, because he loves her and can't live without her. Just like how all the virgins in romance novels cause die-hard billionaire playboys to give up their promiscuous lifestyle and devote themselves - and their bank account, of course - to her. You have power over the most powerful man in town - to a woman, this is the ultimate end game of their wildest romantic fantasies.

When you emasculate powerful men in favor of psychotic man-like girlbosses, many women tune out because that's not what they want. They don't want to replace powerful men in their favorite entertainments. Those powerful men are the draw. The power the love interests have over these men - THAT is the whole point, and the present girlboss trend completely overlooks that.

It seems like it's not going to be so much a history of comics as a chronicle of Zack's history with comics. As you said, 22 pages isn't a lot of room for the entire history of comics, but it's enough room for Zack to print the comics version of "back in my day" based on 3 years of Big Two output. Does he ever review any Silver Age books or stuff published before he was born? One guy in the campaign discussion is hoping he'll talk about 90s Valiant. He might be disappointed.
My theory is this will be a biography, like "The Adventures of L'il Zack" in comic form and not any kind of deep dive into the history of an entire medium.

All we can really do is speculate about what the book actually is, as there are no credits on the campaign. He's not listed an artist or shown a sample page but the dents are buying up the original art already, sight unseen. Madness.

I am willing to bet that highly influencial slice-of-life/romance/horror/comedy/fantasy comics will be omitted from it. Archie, Popeye, anything from Vertigo, European comics and manga, all will be skipped for Zack 's favourite G.I. Joe titles. The history of comics as a medium is too big to condense like that without removing all context. At best it will be "Here are the comics some guy on the internet considers the most influencial" The Comic.
