It sounds like she fell for one of those job scams on Indeed. The whole "fake checks" thing, she probably received some funds, and they told her that she had to cash the check, then had to send some money out (probably via Western Union; sometimes they'll have you buy stuff and send it). But then your bank figures out the check is bad, and claws the money back and you're in the negative while the scammers get to keep the money you sent them. It sucks. Sometimes they'll also tell you that you have to pay for equipment or background checks. There are all kinds of ways fake jobs scam you.

I don't know that we can say that. Lots of people struggle with lots of things. Maybe I'm just getting old. You say she was dreaming of murder since middle school. I see a kid who was showing issues at a young age. Her parents were probably too uninvolved and let her spend too much time online. School probably didn't care. Either it was too liberal and told her it was a good thing and natural and encouraged the derangement, or it was too conservative and just thought if it threw bible versus at her it would magically fix the problem.

Either way you want to look at it, its a problem. I'm not trying to say she doesn't deserve everything that happened to her. She made her bed. She has to lay in it same as anyone else. I'm reading these pages and she just sounds completely fucking broken to me, to the point that not a shred of her humanity survived. I just can't help but wander what sort of cancer has to be so evil, and so pervasive that it can completely break a person like this to the point that they're not even really human anymore. Just a scarred, deformed mockery of what they should have been.

There's a saying that when you kill someone, you don't just kill them in that moment. You kill all that they were, all that they are, and all that they'll ever be. Audrey was dead before she loaded her guns and went out that day. The ideas planted in her soul by the fucked up society we're now living in had long since killed the girl she'd been, killed the person she grew into, and destroyed her future forever, as well as the future of her victims.

Like I said, maybe I'm just getting old. I have a hard time hating Audrey Hale despite her horrible crimes. I find it very easy to hate the circumstances of her creation though. She's a symptom of an untreated cancer. There will be more like her.
