The guy from Romania shouldn't be too difficult since Romania is part of the EU and he isn't facing a potential execution. There will still be a process that will take time, but the EU and the US has had an extradition treaty for a while now.

The Serbian guy, that is a slightly different story. Serbia still isn't part of the EU yet, but it still has an extradition treaty with the US.

These things aren't necessarily fast nor does it mean that if a country doesn't haven an extradition treaty with the US, they will just take every scumbag piece of shit on the run from the US.

There has been plenty of cases where countries we don't even have diplomatic relations, have turned over people. For example, the DPRK gave back that moron that jumped the border rather than face his discharge from the military.

The EU doesn't really play a part, unless it's extraditing from one EU nation to another. Each EU nation has a seperate treaty with the US. So it comes down to an individual nations government and legal system.

With some countries such as France and Italy the process can become a bit of a circus, with politicians, prosecutors, judges and security services all independently able to put the brakes on an extradition.

US prosecutors won't be able to appear in front of Serbian or Romanian judges, those countries prosecutors will have to do it on their behalf. I would also expect that they'd have to show that what they're being extradited for is a crime in their nation as well as the US.

The affidavit says the Romanians first detained Szabo in January via a subpoena to Google Voice, who confessed everything in front of the Secret Service and provided chatlogs to the Romanian cops between him and Nemanja. Nemanja was then also detained in February and confessed, although he downplayed how many swatting calls he made. Seems like Szabo was the one providing the numbers while Nemanja was the guy actually speaking in the calls.

It's pretty weird that the feds won't comment if either are in custody, but if since it's implied that Szabo is in Romanian jail while Nemanja is free; they'll probably get charged in their respective countries, serve a sentence, then get extradited to America. That or Nemanja is actually a fugitive and neither the U.S. or the Serbs can locate him.
