Sony hate thread

That's the thing that annoys the fuck out of me. I remember watching her and Phil LaMarr since their MadTV days and it's nearly impossible to play a game nowadays without one of them being in it. It's wild that these two comedians are everywhere in the gaming industry yet they ended up being the ones that consistently deliver regardless of how shit the rest of the production is. I guess their film careers never took off and they really wanted to have some serious roles after doing comedy for so long, so they've just decided to take the VA very seriously. It's clear Debra got a lot of roles because she's one of the few black female VAs in the gaming industry and she has a ton of experience but I don't mind whenever she shows up, despite how immersion breaking it is seeing another character with her face.
Plus I'm sure for her it's good paycheck, VA strike be damned. The funny thing about MADTV is how scarily accurate her impressions of Oprah and Whitney Houston were. (She has confirmed that a source close to Whitney said she enjoyed the parody. Oprah apparently was not pleased at all.)
Also Phil's MJ impression lol.

A bit late to the party but Concord being the hilarious disaster that it is reminded me that I ought to shill something.

This is Nightmare Operator, the super stylish, low poly 3rd person horror action game made by a studio that is mostly former Sony Japan employees. No release date currently, but it looks cool as fuck so I felt like shilling.

And yes, of course it will be on PC too.
This looks pretty dope, only downside to it is that this game will probably attract the attention of tranny youtubers due to it being a horror game with a female anime protagonist *sigh*

IMAGINE FAILING SO FUCKING BADLY YOU SHUT DOWN YOUR GAME 10 DAYS AFTER IT'S RELEASED
THE ABSOLUTE FUCKING STATE OF PLAY
HOLD YOUR SEATS, FOLKS, IT GETS EVEN MORE RETARDED -
I've heard good things about Jade Raymond's game, is it Fairgame$, I've heard good things about that. So there's a few, I know people who are a bit skeptical about the trailer, but I've heard internal chatter is very positive about it. So there are these other projects that I assume that the ones that they're focusing on are the ones that they're going to go for. They're going to put out there, they're going to support, and try and make work.
EVEN PREDDIT ARE DUNKING ON THEM FOR THIS:

It will be back as a free to play. Which it should have been all along. Can't wait for the weekly soulless GotG cut scenes.
If I were responsible for this studio I would give them 2 weeks to come up with a convincing plan to pivot to F2P and make characters that aren't shit. Has to be done in 6 months or less and with a 40% reduction in staff.

If the plan sucks it's a total layoff.

Edit: specifically there is a big benefit to recording any losses this quarter as they can be done with the negative news, take the stock hit on the q3 earnings report, and move on. The financial quarter ends Sept 30. If they go beyond that date it's now a hit on q4's report as well.

and the animated episode that is part of a Amazon Prime Video mini-series.
I don't care what anyone says, PS5 or not, Slitterhead looks cool.

It reminds me of Ghostwire Tokyo.

...and the fake PS1 visual.

It's funny as hell, and I'm looking forward to the Firewalk layoffs, but will Sony learn anything from this?

No.
I really, really hope everyone affected by the coming layoff has a long, gainful career bagging groceries and greeting walmart customers. I wouldn't wish they/them any suffering, just to fuck right off from ever making video games again.

Gonna go ahead and take my swing at the dead horse for a moment:

I fucking hate the state of gaming, and Sony is one of the companies that owns a chunk of my contempt for it all. With their stupid fucking movie games and their ubisoft tier checklist of horseshit every game they put out must have. Mega budget, 3rd person, heavy on the narrative slop. Sony built up so much goodwill with me from like 1996 up to like 2012 to where they could do no wrong in my eyes, to wanting to see them flame out, hard. They'll push a DOA product like fucking Pronouncord out with all of the time and resources that wasted but can't fucking set aside a few million for a Dead Nation sequel? That game was an absolute gem and goes down in my history book as one of those games where it's a travesty we never got more out of the IP.

Rockstar, Sony, Activision, EA; for all of the great that they've done for gaming during their existence, they've all been equally responsible for its erosion. Every game must take tons of money to make, multiple years to release, they must be riddled with microtransactions, and they must make back what was invested tenfold or else another studio dies. And with gaming being an industry of copycats, they've all set god awful precedents.

If you were to sit down some kid who considers himself a hardcore gamer and told him about a time in gaming where GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas all released inside of a 3 year, 2 week window, he'd probably look at you with befuddlement as if you were explaining to him what a landline wall mounted telephone was.

The saddest part is when you go back and look at what the current "turbo shitty AAA" have done in the past. People love to shit on Activision but there was time when they were pumping out fun games like the Tony Hawk series, Prototype, True Crime, and PS2 Spider-Man 2. Fuck, they even published Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines. I remember enjoying seeing the Activision logo in those Tony Hawk games or even seeing that EA logo whenever I started up Burnout 3. Even the French cunts Ubisoft were being legitimately innovative for a while with For Honor, Rainbow Six: Siege, and the early Assassin's Creed games.

All these fucking retards are standing on foundations of gold built by better developers and less retarded CEOs.

We're approaching an interesting watermark in the life of the PS5; the most hyped game and one that genuinely looks like an actual fucking computer game, Astrobot 2 - sequel to a much=loved IP is launching soon.

We all expect the game to do well with how the original reached critical acclaim and a place in fans' hearts.

The question is, will it bomb? If it fails to sell 1 million in the opening week, that's 1/60th of the player-base, who have no games to play, buying it, and it is a bomb, does that spell the end of Sony?

If their audience don't want movie games like GoW, open world like Horizon, racing games like GT7. action games like Soyderman 2, Hero Shooters like Gonecord and then refuse to buy a popular platform game, is that the death knell for Playstation?

Reminder what IGN said about Concord. They gave it a 7/10

7.0 is the new 3.0, you can make a godhand joke here if you want
godhand vs imagine party babyz.jpg
With so many Soyny games still coming over to PS4 and now being ported over to PC, I barely even remember PS5 exists. It is such a non-factor that I can only complement it on being a bit more memorable than the new Xbox console, that I can't even remember the name of.
