This might sound silly, but how did you guys and girls learn about politics, and when did you become conservative?

Grew up being raised primarily by my former-liberal-now-conservative dad. We used to listen to/read news pieces together and he’d walk me through deconstructing the fluff to work out how the language was slanted or what argument was actually being made. I’m also kind of an emotionless robot, so appeal to emotion stuff (which seems to be what the modern left relies on most) has never really worked on me. Conservative positions, especially regarding economics, just made logical sense to me.

I used to be more socially liberal/libertarian back in my early 20’s and was a passive supporter of abortion and gay normalization and all that, but when I finally went to college and saw firsthand how disgusting these people were, I had a serious conversation with myself and rethought a bunch of stuff.

Now I’m in my 30’s. I’ve had a steady job of some kind ever since I was 16. Went to college in my mid-20’s when I had a plan and could afford to do so. When my husband and I first moved in together we were living off of about $25k a year in a shitty apartment, but through hard work and diligent money management we were able to build ourselves up and even buy a house. I’ve busted my ass for years and years to get to the comfy little middle-class existence I have now, and I have an incredible seething hatred for the people in power who think my life needs to be made more difficult and my money needs to be redistributed to people who didn’t earn it. Most of them seem to have a (D) next to their name.

Still a libertarian, supported Trump as a joke and it became more serious as time went by. Back then I was a typical skeptic gamergate era classical liberal still holding onto boomer truths. However 2020 basically shattered that all and my social views have gone more and more conservative and even if I'm still a libertarian, I am socially hard right at this point.

The number 1 culprit of sexual assaults against children are other children. I believe this is happening because of smart phones and social media. Kids around 5-6 are getting exposed to hard-core pornography and are acting it out.

Two of my neighbors are dealing with this right now because two of the little girls were raised by an iPad and they moan and flash another little boy on the block regularly. They're 10 and 7 and he's 6.

When I was a kid all the boys didn’t even make the moaning sounds until we hit puberty, and that was when I was 12. The girls never got involved. It’s downright unsettling to hear what kids act like now.

Grew up in an extremely liberal part of Canada. Loved the freedom, discontent and critique of corporatism in the punk scene growing up, and was gradually disillusioned by the abandonment of that ethos by leftists by and large. I was extremely interested in politics my whole life (autistically so, even by age 11) but generally non-partisan. Still am. Most of my freedom-centric, anti-corporate, anti-state values are now considered "far-right" so I guess that's where I am lol.

When will hey develop a new way to poll rather than tables during events and cold phone calls? Everyone says polls are bs unless it's in their favor. And nobody really trusts them. What were the Hillary/Trump polls in 2016 again?

It would not be hard to develop a government app or website where you type in your voter ID # or more privately, general election voting center.
This could easily get spammed and skew results which is why I think a voter ID # would be more practical.

I know this thread hates crypto from what I've seen, but with zero knowledge proofs tech you could easily type in verifiable data to answer a poll and not have host of the poll know who answered what while people not being able to spam multiple inputs

  • before GamerGate, didn't give two shits about politics
  • GamerGate happens
  • don't know much about it other than an influx of videos tipping their fedora for Anita (specifically Angry Joe in one of his top 10 videos, and then The Escapist having a positive article about her)
  • See a Sargon reply video of the Angry Joe video
  • Start to watch a bunch of other "Skeptic" channels
  • Find Teal Deer's videos
  • Fast Forward to January 2016
  • Teal Deer Mentions Metokur on a stream video
  • search for Metokur
  • Find an archive channel of his Internet Aristocrat videos including The Quinspiracy Theory
  • Metokur mentions 8ch and /pol/ more than once in his videos
  • browse /pol/ on 8ch (YEARS before the 8kun change)

I became vaguely interested in middle school mostly because my dad and his friends would be talking about political stuff and since I like hunting and fishing I spent a lot of time with them. As a consequence of being around older men and their conversations and asking questions I became aware of politics and how much one should hate politicians and journalists much earlier then my peers. I used my knowledge of politics to mostly troll the shit out of morons in my high school years. Basically argued whatever point would anger whoever I was trying to piss off at the time schtick but quickly found the issues I actually cared about and by the time I was like 16 or so I had acquired some actual principles (some of which haven't changed). I started actually giving a shit around the 2008 election but didn't vote because I hated both Obama and McCain.

I wouldn't define myself as conservative and most actual hardcore conservatives would find me an irredeemable faggot but I am certainly right leaning and find myself hating my fellow faggots more and more everyday as the tranny shit continues to metastasize and destroy society for the benefit of socially maladjusted men in dresses with more mental disorders than hairs left on their heads.

"haha let's put marbles up each other's ass!"
I must have lived a very sheltered life since this never ever came up.
how many marbles could hitler fit up Captain Planet's ass?
Asking the hard hitting questions!

When I was a teen I was a by the books leftitard that had some pangs of dissonance here and there (like pushing commie shit, being a fedora tipper but being aware that islamists are lying snakes and how Taquiya or however the fuck it's written works). As I grew older and met people that weren't also leftitards that challenged me I started to reconsider things since what they were saying went against the leftitard church, but it made sense in my mind. Gamergate came and went since I only had a passing interest, though I found it funny that I was aware about how it started with sleeping for reviews while an old of mate of mine said it was due to some shit about harassing women, but neither of us actually paid attention nor cared enough to look deeper, but it was already showing where we were both getting our narratives from.

Then comes Trump. Trump goes from beloved figure to gigasatan in a hearbeat and I for the life of me could not understand why. So I ended lurking pol for a while and I was suddenly exposed to some very nice bitsized details about race and statistics. Though I quickly grew tired of how chaotic the image boards were and while looking for any sort of place where political discussion was had but that wasn't just chimps screaming and throwing shit everywhere, ended up finding the farms (was aware of the farms before, had used it to read up on the That Guy with the Glasses lot since they are some of my og lolcows) but that's when I became a regular lurker.

So I went from full commie faggot that clapped at how "progressive" something was to gas the rice, cake war now.

During all of that I also had my classical liberal phase, but though I very much favor small government, I've also learnt how easy "live and let live" is easily abused, so now I'm just a random blob if concepts and ideas that are kind of hard to pin into a specific box.

Just how apocalyptic are those non-fortified internal polling numbers that they think they have to bail on Kamala and try and save Schumer's majority?
Minor caveat, they aren't keeping the Senate. West Virginia is already gone and the Reps only need one of Montana and Ohio to flip it even if losing the Presidency. Latest polling shows Tester getting easily trounced, and that's before remembering how Ohio votes with Trump on the ticket. If anything the goal is to stem the bleeding enough in other states like Michigan and Pennsylvania to prevent 2026 and 2028 solidifying and growing a Republican majority until the 2030s.

The Dem objective appears to be securing the House to keep impeachment firmly on the table and generally screw with Trump similar to 2018-20.

This is one reason why there is no justification for mixed-sex education beyond a certain point, especially for girls. Girls perform better academically in single-sex education than in a co-ed environment. I believe I have read that boys typically perform better in co-ed environments but anymore I would argue that the risk for damage could outweigh those benefits. And I know that I’m certainly not willing to send a daughter to school for the benefit of boys in whose education I have no stake.

If you have children that have not been raised on iPads, who do not use grooming apps that allow for predators to “play” alongside them, and who have not seen pornography, you shouldn’t undo all of that hard work by feeding them to the latchkey iPad kids in their classrooms. There are tons of homeschooling resources out there and alternative education tracks that involve a smaller amount of in-class time with lower teacher:student ratios. We are seeing the brain rot at these early ages. Don’t handwave it away when it comes time to decide between state-sponsored babysitting in the Thunderdome or participating actively in your child’s education.

There's an active, coordinated effort to stop people from being able to rationalize and question things at all, so is it really their fault?

I'm not excusing shitty and retarded behavior, this is a genuine question that I'm curious about.

From consumerism to extremely calculated and incestuous networks of infotainment (shoutouts to the kiwi who introduced me to this term,) it's just very difficult to imagine these sorts ever had the chance to start questioning things at all.
It absolutely is. All of the stupidity and propaganda in modern politics is entirely enforced socially. The vast majority of utterly brainwashed people I've met think the way they do, purely due to the social perception of the "other".

Dumb liberals think the way they do because that's how most cool artsy people in college, Hollywood actors, and musicians think. They still associate the left with the anti-war/hippie movement of the 60s, and wouldn't dare risk ever voicing an opinion that would paint them as an uncool, angry, religious old person. Actual policy and logical principles do not matter; as long as that social dichotomy can be overlaid on the current issue, that's what they'll believe.

By the same token, neocons will hate on Trump and suck as much government dick as you ask them to, as long as you can force the perception that to do so makes them look like a proper clean-cut old-fashioned church-going American, and their opposition as uncouth radicals and overly-sensitive young people.

We have the Internet, and it doesn't take a genius to do actual research and not just tow a line.

While our society does suffer from massive amounts of propaganda, it's only as effective as it is because half the population hasn't matured past the high school cafeteria lunch table.

That simple change probably isn't justified by a basic utilitarian calculus, because girls do so much better in school than boys anyway, so any improvement for the girls will be washed out.
The actual solution is sex segregated education that's properly tuned for boys, but I don't think that's going to happen... Probably a higher proportion of male teachers would be good for boys too, but that's way too close to affirmative action and quotas to be viable.

Back in college, I was basically put through the leftist protest organizational pipeline. I met with a state paid protestor organizers and started a socialist organization. They came to me and my friends who ran several clubs and I organized several protests. They took me to meetings, I got to meet some non-important local political figures. Got tons of perks. My lefty friend basically told me how she never trusted these people, and something wasn't right here. It all boiled over one day when I got our main contact with these paid protestor groups blisteringly drunk at a party. I got to really talking with him and he spilled the beans. He was making a fuck load of money driving all over the state and starting activist groups at every campus he went to. He got a paid car, reimbursed gas mileage, everything. All on behalf of student union groups. He has no idea who was actually paying him. Or why. Or what these organizations were for. And he didn't care. Later on, I realized what this pipeline was and I suspect AOC went through something very similar.

So, the paid protestor organizers were exploiting me, the clubs and organizations I was apart of, and my student bases, as well as our funding to turn them all into paid protestor Communist shills. To say I have no love for these people and wish death upon them all is an understatement.

Edit: It's actually quite astounding how many problems in my life were solved by just getting people hammered.
