I once did a study on logical arguing and philosophical exchange, and one key point discovered was that if someone never allows themselves to challenge their own beliefs, regardless of how well-intentioned they are, it is inevitable that they will eventually become so entrenched in their position that they will defend their views simply out of refusal to be wrong. Honestly, the biggest problem with the drought is that communities are selling their water to Los angeles. Like, a small town in the central Valley was allowing each farmer an average of 6 acre feet of water, then over three years of the drought and selling the water in Reservoirs to Los Angeles and San Francisco, farmers were reduced to 6 INCHES per acre foot. That is a HUGE difference. Land in Californias Central Valley has actually dropped up to 15 feet in some places due to the drought and he lowering watertable. But the businesses that "own" the water (MID, TID, KCID, etc) have enough cash to bulletproof all the glass in their offices because the are afraid of the farmers they are gyping.
You also have almost no soybean production, so good luck with your soy latte, tofurkey, and soylent needs.
