Trashfire TENET Media / Lauren "Chen" / Lauren Yu Sum Tam & Liam Donovan - Rightoid grifting network funded by the Kremlin, were the sole live reporters at AFPAC IV. Hired Tim Pool, Lauren Southern, Dave Rubin and others.

I know this is a rather banal take, but it is entirely possible to 1) believe that Russia is spending money on propaganda in the US,  and 2) also believe that the US Justice Department doesn't always work in the general citizenry's best interests when those interests clash with the interests of entrenched, established powers.

@Sargon's wife's son I empathize your frustration over this, and I more or less agree that the government picks and chooses when and how to go after this stuff, but them's the breaks. Complaining about Hunter's Laptop or how FDR was a commie traitor and McCarthy was an unsung hero (Not even true, look in to what him and Roy Cohn got up to during the HUAC hearings) on a New Zealandese autism containment fourm isn't going to change that. Not that I would ever be advocating violence, but doing something to that effect in Minecraft looks to me like one of the few actual ways to see any kind of movement on this stuff.

Remember when the king of the neocons Max boot wife was caught being an agent of the South Korean government why isn't that a bigger story he still works at the Washington Post by the way
Hey guys, I know this makes us look really stupid and silly right now, but what about the Jews, amirite? They get up to this shit all the time. Let's talk about that instead!

Yeah man the people who opposed the Iraq/Afghan wars and Vietnam were just a bunch of fucking traitors to the great red, white and blue stars and stripes. I can't believe they would help the enemy like that.
Well yea. They also got punished as traitors. I was there to see it myself. The constant "you are not patriotic enough" that lost them jobs, connections and other things. The Bush administration supressed anyone who was critical of the war on terror after 9/11. They even killed their own Soldiers to cover up counter narrative's.
Right wingers complain about cancel culture now. Saying Iraq had 0 WMDs came with risk too.

Oh it's just funny that the biggest Russia Gator and king of the neocons warmongering bloodthirsty Max boot screaming everyone is a traitor and he put country over party is married to someone who's working for the South Korean government to push South Korean propaganda about North Korea and there's no way he didn't know by the way he still works at the Washington Post and wasn't fired from every single one of his journalist jobs.
It's weird how that works

I'll start caring about Tim Paul taking money from some Russians even I don't watch the beanie man because all of his takes are the exact same as soon as Max booed and his wife were prosecuted

nobody actually cares about foreign influence it's just an excuse to go after your political opponents I mean people did care back in the 50s but they were told they were conspiracy theorists so you know we need to stop with all this McCarthyism against beanie man

Two months out from an election sure is convenient timing to discover a massive Russian propaganda ring.
Yeah it is a bit fucky. The indictment didn't specifically name people like Tim Pool (I don't think?), but instead quoted Tenet's site rather than keeping things vague or anything. Which makes me feel like someone with the DoJ may have been sloppy on purpose to try getting this story out.

It won't really affect the election of course since it's really just some retarded youtubers that only those that spend too much time online (like myself and many here) would be familiar with. Also doesn't help that Lauren Chen was denouncing Trump which makes it easier for right wingers to mock the story since it can be argued the Russians were interfering to help Kamala.

Though I feel calling this a "massive" propaganda ring is a gross exaggeration given how few people were involved. Which also speaks to the Russian's ineptitude. If they wanted, they could have funded a few dozen people with like $50k each do their own youtube shows/streams, botted viewers, and completely astroturfed their popularity while nudging them towards promoting the Russian's talking points.

They could have created an entire pro-Russia ecosystem and had them all looking wildly popular, but instead figured they could use a handful of retards as bellwethers which is just odd.

I love how nobody has bothered to ask the most important question:

Is any of this so called Russian propaganda that they pushed factually incorrect?
While in principle I agree that's what people should be asking themselves, legally, that's not really relevant when it comes to a FARA violation.

Once Obama signed Smith-Mundt into law it legalized propaganda against American citizens. At that point I think all gloves are off. If our intelligence agencies want to legally push propaganda on us, then everybody else can too. The hypocrisy is fucking laughable.

The truth is all that matters.

Right, the greatest sellout in America is your own government because they have 0 interest in actually governing and making life better for its people. Instead they fund wars to keep the liberal world order alive or protect a certain middle Eastern nation because of shared ethnic interests.

Apparently this mysterious fake investor would spell his own name wrong in documents/communication. You'd hope they'd at least put some effort into it, but I guess when you're dealing with retards, there's no need to put your top guy on the job.

My biggest problem is I don't understand what influence those dastardly Russians would have thought they were getting. Covering AFPAC helps Putin? How? Sponsoring Tim Pool's milqetoast culture podcast spreads disinformation? Promoting Dave "womb renter" Rubin is going to influence the war in Ukraine?
Russian info ops in the US have two primary goals, if you observe their actions.

In the long-term their intention is to increase partisanship, increase chaos and turn people against each other and by extension weaken US unity. It's why they support opposing sides of issues - I'm pretty sure some Russian support had been linked to BLM etc.

The short-term aim though is to try and undermine international support for Ukraine, in order to try and take away, or reduce, support from foreign nations. US public opinion, and the opinion of its decision makes, are influential enough to effectively pick a winner in this conflict. Russia know that - so anything they can do to move that needle they will do it. What's 10 million to a nation of 120 million, it's nothing, and yet they have bought politicians in Europe for a lot less than that. It's a very cost effective way of doing business.

If you cast your eye across to Europe, they've been using telegram to pay junkies to firebomb businesses linked to Ukraine. They are throwing everything they have at this shit, just because Tim Pool is braindead doesn't mean he can't influence some people with what the Russians want them to hear.

If your countries ideals, ideology and methods can be shattered because someone uses Socratic method, guess what? It was shit to begin with.

Russian disinfo has nothing to do with the Socratic method, they just pump out nonsense and whatever sticks and whatever gets traction they run with it.

Once an issue becomes partisan, people will just support their side of it. It's how you get this nonsense about biolabs, or other inane bullshit with no evidence, being repeated by people like Tucker Carlson.

It's not that Russia is creating these conditions whole cloth, but they are putting effort into making them worse and where possible promoting their interests.

Do you think any government/kings/emperors anywhere in history tolerated counter signalling to official edicts? Whining that the state calls you subversive because you have been caught shilling talking points written at the desk of Putin is such a dumb stand to take. Anti-US government posters are always fucking thinking they are the main fucking character.
The point stands, Pool and the rest of the right wing got caught stone fucking cold taking money from Putin. Legitimizing the left wings talking points.
If the left says you eat babies. DONT FUCKING GET CAUGHT EATING FUCKING BABYS!
