2024 Halloween Merch Run

Took a detour from the one thing I was sketching up because I had another idea that would be easier to get a base level thing out. Some people in the thread wanted a "cuter" design, dogs are cute, slobbermutt is kinda iconic to this despite being from wikihow. Somehow this and the "only using white" thing coalesced into me thinking about a stylized ghost/skull slobbermutt. This is actually flipped around just to make it more obviously clear what I'm referencing, initially it had the drool facing the other way so it vaguely looked like a riddler ass question mark. I'll save this and get back to working on it later like the other image idea I had when first seeing this thread.
EDIT: added og orientation (right image).

Nit-picking but not really: kiwi birds have their nostrils at the *end* of their beaks. Because they use the beak to rummage around for food, and apparently there aren't very many other birds set up this way.

I don't say anything when I see folks do the nostrils wrong, because it's not that big a deal, but I feel like "official merch" should be anatomically correct.

Heading back to my nerd-cave....

I'll be honest, not a fan of this one. I can get behind the concept of the hard white on black, pause. But I find the design to be, idk, cheap? Do whatever you want to do, this one just isn't my cup of tea. It's busy in all the wrong ways.

It would be pretty nifty if you did a re-release of the Saint slobber mutt though.

KF t-shirts always look kick ass. I got into the habit of picking them up during the great payment processing exodus, think I only missed out on the covid one. I really like the design in the OP, ranks really high on the, "Will I wear this outside of the apartment and not get yelled at by a random tranny?" scale.

I like the design. I like runes, blacktext & fraktur fonts. Shirts & hoodies sound good. Very sharp design & aesthetically pleasing.

By hoodie do you mean pullover hooded sweatshirts or zipper hoodies? When I hear hoodie, I think of a hooded sweatshirt with a zipper. Some people call hooded pullovers, hoodies too. I’m requesting hoodies with a zipper down the front if that’s not what’s intended already because those are awesome.

I love it as is, but if you want suggestions on making it more symbolic of nordic mythology...

-An eye patch or rag over one of the skull's eyes as a reference to Odin's personal sacrifice for knowledge. I'd suggest it for the kiwi but it's a side profile and might look weird.
-Consider swapping out the sword for a spear, as it was Odin's weapon of choice.
-Give the kiwi 8 legs like Odin's horse.

Sorry that the ladies don't love it but KF merch throughout history has leaned more towards cute than cool. The only two shirt designs I've ever liked were the spooky slobbermutt moon and this. Designs of a more masculine demeanor are enthusiastically welcomed.

I guess it's gonna be an unpopular take but the original design is way too cluttered and hard to make out.
I agree, I found it difficult to read the silhouette and the Interior lines have a dazzle-camo effect making it uncomfortable to look at.

Was this originally drawn in black and white and then inverted?
The black on white looks great compared to the white on black. It's a really cool design on a white background!
Human vision is great at picking out black on white but struggles with the white on black [Vision and Art: The Biology of Seeing]

I would recommend revising it for the purposes of being on a black background
This is an (over)simplified version making it readable as white on black.

The point where the cape meets the chest has also been lowered slightly to remove the tangent.

Personal note: Nordic runes are associated with neo-nazis so I think it would be a downgrade.

I hope you sell a million T-shirts!

I would happily pay extra for garment/blank quality. Most really really nice and comfy merch t-shirts in my closet are all (semi) heavy cotton shirts, all in the 200 - 300 GSM (grams per square meter) category (heavyweight hoodies can sometimes enjoy benefits from even higher GSM). Sourcing better blanks then your run of the mill gildan sweatshop garbage is really worth the extra dosh.

Love the design so far, I would watch out with adding decorative text (or text in general), especially loaning text/chracaters from different cultures or history as they can sometimes come across as very tacky. A nice, stylized, serif typeface can go a long way imo.

Lastly, if you really want something special for the merch look into different printing techniques, this would depend heavily on your supplier but there is a world beyond simple screen printing which is rarely used effectively by most generic Internet "merch". I personally like flock printing. However these special prints come at an even greater premium and usually a large upfront charge depending on production volume.

I would recommend drawing it again starting on a black background

Love the design! Yeah, agree with the black on white, looks stunning there but bit harsh on the eyes on a black t-shirt.

The version of the white kiwi on black seems much better.

I know we're probably all massive fat asses that want black shirts to cover our bulging gunts, but would white be an option?
