Sony hate thread

Astro Bot was fantastic, easily my GOTY so far.
Yep, started the game myself and played for an hour. I don't really play platformers and only played a few throughout the years. Couldn't give a fuck about the genre. But the general "good vibes" are great. Everything is charming and upbeat. Just a genuine fun video game. I can understand some of the skepticism from people because the PS5 is an almost useless machine, but that doesn't change the fact that Astro Bot is a great little game. Which the industry could use a couple more of.

AMD have announced a change in strategy, moving away from high-end gaming GPUs and moving towards affordable gaming GPUs "for everyone".

AMD returned to the enthusiast tier with the Radeon RX 6900 and later the 7900 series, both of which offer competitive price-to-performance ratios against NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 30 and 40 series. Jack was asked by TH’s Paul Alcorn’s about competing in the high-end GPU market with NVIDIA, here’s how he responded:

I’m looking at scale, and AMD is in a different place right now. We have this debate quite a bit at AMD, right? So the question I ask is, the PlayStation 5, do you think that’s hurting us? It’s $499. So, I ask, is it fun to go King of the Hill? Again, I’m looking for scale. Because when we get scale, then I bring developers with us.

So, my number one priority right now is to build scale, to get us to 40 to 50 percent of the market faster. Do I want to go after 10% of the TAM [Total Addressable Market] or 80%? I’m an 80% kind of guy because I don’t want AMD to be the company that only people who can afford Porsches and Ferraris can buy. We want to build gaming systems for millions of users.

Yes, we will have great, great, great products. But we tried that strategy [King of the Hill] — it hasn’t really grown. ATI has tried this King of the Hill strategy, and the market share has kind of been…the market share. I want to build the best products at the right system price point. So, think about price point-wise; we’ll have leadership.

I'm dropping this in the Sony thread because he name drops the PS5 without saying whether it hurt them or not. It sounds like AMD have seen the writing on the wall for high-end hardware and are noping the fuck out in favour of affordable, mid-level GPUs, which is a smart move. High-end GPUS are dead to the masses.

Not a fan of lesbian grandma either, but there was a lesbian grandma in Rise of the Ronin, and Rise of the Ronin itself was an open world game lol.
Rise of the Ronin is a pozzed game in general. It goes on the shit list. Team Ninja cant make anymore Ninja Gaiden games because they are too hardcore. And they cant make DOA anymore because it would get canceled for having big titty women who are hot and not fat/black/ugly/gay. So they made Rise of Ronin. A game that lets u romance anyone because everyone is pansexual. Its woke. Idk if the game is good or not but idc. It looked like a Ghost of Tsushima wannabe.

All of this talk about Sony wanting movie games more than real games and dumping as much time, money, talent, and resources into them tell me that the move to Commiefornia was made to give them direct access to Sony Pictures staff....and we all know how crooked they'd been for a long while now, right?

You all keep saying everyone is shifting to PC gaming but my eyes and ears hear the opposite. People who played on PC are never upgrading and losing interest in the platform or gaming altogether or at most shifting to gaming on a laptop / steam deck which is a LOT less enthusiast tier.

Affordable, good parts drives market expansion which is a better strategy long run, plus keeps those invested renewing hardware which keeps them with the platform long term.

Due to recent update on the ShadPS4 emulator, we can somewhat run Bloodborne on PC now.
Of course, it comes with it's own set of issues for now (like only being barely playable on Nvidia, & very buggy on AMD, etc.). But it's possible that the biggest reason to buy a PS4 might die by the end of this year.
Give me a spoopy Christmas overly invested autists!

Oh thank God, I can consider actually doing an upgrade in a few years then. I was dreading what to do once my GPU croaked.

There's no reason to upgrade, that's why High-end gaming is dying on PC and Consoles. If Sony or MS put out a more powerful console next gen, it will be DOA. non-uk EU sales for PS5 are down 20% YoY. The PS5PRO will sell on brand recognition to the enthusiast fanboys but Playstation fans by and large are sticking to PS4. Devs are still releasing cross-gen games at high numbers, almost unheard of four years into a gen.

Like you say, people want the steam deck, the want a more powerful Switch, they're happy with PS4-level graphics because there's no reason to upgrade. 4k and 8k as a marketing scam/idea has failed miserably. It would have been better to focus on physics and real-time destruction/AI over resolution.

I think AMD are aiming to cut the legs off of Nvidia and force them to focus on the high-end GPUs, while AMD steal the low and mid-tier GPUs at an affordable price. If AMD had an SLI solution planned, it would be very bad news long-term for Nvidia.

This isn't going to sell consoles.
Just a reminder that they did not need a single game to get 61,7 million sony ponies to fork over cash.

I can only imagine the price of the PS5PRO. It might bring back PS3 flashbacks.

People wanted to spent money on a graphical jump, not a half-step.

@Anchors-Away
The Heavy Rain one is weird, because there's a gatcha thing of an origami crane. You'd think they'd put Shelby in or something.
Well not just that, but it's one of the few games to push the PS3's Dualshock 3 gimmick functionality. It's a meme to many yes, but from a technical standpoint it is far more important to Sony's history as game than say having Fall Guys as a rep.

Hopefully they'll add more bots in the DLC. There's apparently franchises in the credits that don't have associated bots, but I glossed over it.

If the sales are good, they will announce it so that the investors can rejoice after the horrible year they had up until now. If they are bad, then they will keep quiet.
Guess that explains why Square still hasn't released the sales numbers for FFVII Rebirth seven months after it's release...
