CNN was surprisingly fair during the 1st debate. As long as ABC doesnt do that live "fact-checking" shit it should go okay.

Knowing them though, they're going to make it all about 1/6 and Tim Cool accepting money from Tenent, aka Shit Nobody Cares About

Everybody is going on about Tenet when they should be talking about Tencent. But I guess the US government doesn't care about US companies being funded by the CCP?

There's a fine line though between trying to push people to action and completely demoralizing them to where they feel like it's pointless to even bother.
They need her down so that she can go up in October. The idea might be to create the illusion of momentum.

Or maybe it's just they want it down before the debate so that they can soften the impact of the debate on the numbers, once KH blows it.

Imagine backing people for two decades and consistently stating you'll help them if the whole situation goes to shit. Then the situation goes to shit and the new guy says "nah, fuck yourselves," and your family gets killed. Not good.
That’s why I think it’s best to avoid such situations entirely but not getting involved in the first place. And if you read about the evacuations, it wasn’t exactly a ton of families, it was fighting age men who did shit like prevent old people and children from getting on helicopters and boats so they could save themselves. Can’t say I have much sympathy for people who abandoned their families.

In regards to the Afghanistan thing I would rather the United States be embarrassed internationally then to import tens of thousands of 70iq afghan rapists, only one of those things will realistically effect me and it’s not the loss of prestige. It’s also worth noting our afghan allies trafficked in opioids more then the taliban ever did, probably killing more Americans then the taliban ever did, and that’s before you get into the fact we let them practice Bacha bazi and told our troops to respect they cultcha

Here's the thing, though: a lot of the Afghanis we would have taken in were already Americanized to some extent and fought for our side. Abandoning them makes us look bad and there may come a day we need friends in foreign places, but they point at Afghanistan and tell us to fuck ourselves.

Your point about not getting involved in the first place is valid, though, even if I don't agree with it.

I can understand most of the regime changes you mentioned, even Vietnam, I however don’t think Afghanistan or Iraq were justified at all. We objectively made both countries worse. Afghanistan is in the hands of the people we were supposed to kick out and Iraq is an Iranian puppet and had TWO civil wars post invasion. With the added benefit of removing saddam who could have been a counterweight to Iran

Iraq was about removing Saddam after he made the batshit decision to invade Kuwait when the whole word knew he would lose that war. Also, Saddam was a major sponsor of terrorism even after 1991. While Saddam was, indeed, batshit crazy and needed to go, the way we handled it was straight retarded. Banning all the Ba'aths was pants-on-head stupid. There were so many mistakes.

Afghanistan was a cold war with Pakistan. While the US and Pakistan are nominally allies, Pakistan actively supports the Taliban because they prevent an independent Pashtun state (which would gobble up around 40% of Pakistan's existing territory). The Taliban supported Al-Qaeda and they had to go, while the US had to figure out ways to modify Pakistan's behaviour.

These were not wars just for the sake of war. In my opinion, even if we fucked up both cases, they were justified.

uh you do understand that’s why we invaded them in 1991 over Kuwait right? The 2003 invasion was 100% a war for nothing, muh WMD never existed. 2003 wasn’t for Kuwait. The only alternative to saddam was a Shia dominated puppet state of Iran or a Sunni Islamist hellhole, both of which are worse then baathist Iraq

Saddam Hussein was a major sponsor of state terrorism, dude. That has never been disputed or disproved. He was a pain in the ass.

Even after 1991, Saddam continued to do wild and crazy shit. The US wanted him gone for legitimate reasons, not just "we don't like his stupid moustache."

I am not really sure not debating Trump three times is going to work for kamala..... Every debate is an opportunity to debase your opponent... If you fuck up one debate, you can make it up the second time....

But apparently kamala is so bad that they have zero confidence in her going into the first debate...

But they did have confidence in Joe Biden.

That should really tell you something.

And they are state sponsor of terroism now? Millions dead and two civil wars just for them to sponsor a different type of sectarian terrorism . Mission accomplished. If sponsoring terroism was enough to justify an invasion how come we didn’t invade SA, Pakistan or Qatar

I already said it failed because of dumb decisions by the US on how to handle it. I'll go further and say that it failed spectacularly. However, had it not failed, we would not be having this discussion. Hindsight is 20/20.

I was very surprised when I found out how tiny a minority Christians are in Japan. The Japanese seem to adore Christmas
They "adore" it for the complete opposite (religious) reasons and morals Americans do. It's more just see pretty lights, consoom everything, eat all the KFC and cake.
What I heard was "Shinto for the festivals, Buddhist for the afterlife."
I have some friends who are missionaries to several of the prestigious universities in Japan, and they tell me that a lot of the Japanese students that they talk to don’t know what Christianity is about. They most likely don’t see beyond “Christian symbols look cool. Jesus seems to be a good guy.” Japan’s appreciation of Christianity does not come out of the appreciation of the faith, but rather an appreciation of what Americans do.

A lot of the Protestant churches in Japan that help the mission have a significant population of foreigners (mostly white and some black), and even the East Asians in that church, half of them are probably Koreans. It just shows that ever since the Tokugawa Shogunate suppressed Catholic Christianity, as Martin Scorsese in his movie Silence have mentioned, all the roots to support the Christian mission are cut. There is no grassroots movement to support Christianity in Japan and thus, many of the churches consist of foreigners attempting to educate the Japanese on Christianity to make the decision on whether they are interested in the faith or not.

This is in contrast to Korea. For many Koreans, many flocked to Christianity because the main oppositional figures to the Imperial Japanese occupation of Korea were Christian pastors, so Christianity in a sense was the primary grassroots movement for Korean nationalism. This is why the main religious faith of Korean Americans is not Buddhism or Korean folk religions, but Evangelical Protestant Christianity.

I would say the Christian mission is having a bit of success in Japan, but it is slow. Protestantism is the most active, but I do see attempts by the Russian Orthodox Church (through its autonomous branch Orthodox Church of Japan) to reach the Japanese populace. Not too sure about Roman Catholicism.

Speaking of KFC by @Non-breath oblige, KFC marketed that eating fried chicken on Christmas is something Americans would do, and the Japanese basically gobbled it up to it becoming a ”Christmas” tradition.

What are the odds that ABC is merely fluffing up Harris so she feels comfortable doing the debate, then will be more neutral during the debate because either the see the writing on the wall or just want ratings?
Pretty damn high. Its standard Democrat factionalism bullshit. Meaningless fluff up the dem faction you oppose, go tooth and nail at the enemy, provide no substantive support whatsoever for that faction. It is their most basic form of neutrality. Meant to prevent open warfare between the factions.

Notice on their website, I have to go below the -second- fold to reach the first -mention- of Harris... and its the Debate.

Their AU site is different from the US site, but this is very interesting information.
Oops, accidentally revealed where I am right now... I have yet to be attacked by a kangaroo, so I am disappointed with this trip. Also, I am a boomer.

https://abcnews.go.com/ Linking the correct site we still... see absolutely nothing actually supporting Harris.

Buying Greenland is merely a preparation to take the real prize

Iceland

Whoever owns Iceland is better than halfway to owning the North Atlantic. If someone owned both...

Iceland has been a totally independent country since WW2. It's not owned by Denmark anymore.

No one has to mark your words, buddy. It's an open secret that Jill Biden despises Kamala - not only did Kamala trash her husband in 2020 (good marks for loyalty there), but she also has been gunning for Joe and Jill's gig the entire time. Jill Biden does not want to give up being First Lady.

I wonder if Jill Biden is going to refuse to concede when Trump wins?

Maybe they got turkeys and chickens confused?

Ironic, that island was anything but virgin

There were probably some sacrificed there though.

Nevertheless, the lack of interest on the AU site is telling. In 2016 and 2020, the international outlets pulled out the stops for the Democrats.
