Ehh, it's something I would watch or perhaps play in the background on a boring afternoon, but nothing I'd wait for more episodes for. Near as I can tell, the target audience seems to be like High Guardian Spice where it's too crass and boring for children, but also too kiddy for adults, so the main fans will either be teens or manchildren who were fans of it years before it even came out, and considering it's made be a cartoon reviewer, it's definitely gonna be the latter.

It seems to just kinda...exist. The background and lighting is really good, but the main two are so round, simple, and cutesy looking that they look more like those autistic Deviantart pictures of PNGs of some kid's OCs slapped onto a background than they do the main characters, especially when the background characters are notably more stylized, with MUCH more distinct silhouettes.
It feels like less of a cartoon, and more of either a retelling of a high school memory, or something Mark wishes happened in high school.

Also, why'd they need to pay $20 to get on the school bus anyway

It's funny that it was CLEARLY meant to be a regular bus, but they went back and lazily painted it yellow.

Mark is a "critic." All the stuff he gives other people shit for he couldn't be bothered to apply to his own project.

Yeah, anybody can critique a shitty show and say they can do better, but pretty much every time one of them one of them tries to put their money where their mouth is, they learn firsthand just how hard making something actually is. We can't ALL make Snoot Game, now.

This sums it up really well. Being a critic is dangerous for an animator/director, it's a masturbatory act that gives you the feeling of having worked or studied, but without the actual work. Critique is also very surface level, you can notice and rant about cheap animation, but you don't learn that cheap animation is a must for quick turnarounds, and that you'll be spending 3 years working on the same thing if you're trying to make good TV animation with a small crew.

I'd say so, yeah. It's doing the bit without understanding why it was funny. I don't even remember the worm girlfriend in that scene dying so it just feels weird seeing this. Feels like they just threw whatever at a wall and hoped something would stick

I mean they're still middle schoolers, not 8, though it still raises some eyebrows, I don't remember ever seeing a damn 11-13 year old go to the club.
Also the written premise is really uninteresting and the episode doesn't really toss out a hook for the audience, it seems like a pretty dime-a-dozen "wow, growing up sucks, doesn't it? Isn't being young so awkward?" type thing except you're not even sure how specifically old they're supposed to be.

This is unbearably gay and cringe, Mark clearly wanted to make the most corporate garbage R34 Furry teen drama show possible. I found it really weird that Chris and his friend group VAed in this. If I was charitable I would give it a 3/10, in reality it deserves a 1, its worse than a 2000s NG flash animation with swear words.

I'm a tourist and not going to watch it or even read the thread but I was taken aback at how bad these character designs are in the thumbnail/poster.

I think the designs are fine in concept, albeit a bit generic, but they are poorly drawn and make no sense in context. Why is the mouse wearing a bowler hat? Why is the wolf(?) dressed like a Target employee? Why are most other characters in the pilot fully clothed (this isn't unique to this show, but you can overcome it when your art style is consistent, like Rocko's Modern life; this looks like all the characters are from completely different shows).

imo if he was actually serious he should have cut the pilot down to 5 minutes and really upped the quality because there's nothing here that would make any studio want to fund a full series of this. It's so boring and lifeless.

Also related to the cartoon, but I find it funny how no one agrees on what animal this is supposed to be. People call him a cat or a wolf or a dog, they just know he's a generic mammal. I've even seen some call the mouse guy a monkey. It goes to show how poor the character design is, I think it would be much clear what animal he is if he had a tail.

I'd honestly chalk this up more to mismanagement and things changing during production than anyone being a creep. If the entire name changed then making the setting go from middle school to high school isn't a stretch and he'll probably clarify later if enough people bring it up. Also, these are weird fucking furry things so I don't even think age it taken into account when making the character designs.

Since Mark’s pilot was released there’ve been a bunch of threads on /co/ about it and I kept seeing one specific namefag that I’m semi-convinced is actually mark himself. Literally all “she” ever talked about was how “cute” mark is, how she wants to marry him, how she hates Veronica for cheating on him and how everyone should stop calling Mark a cuck. Said namefag was also supposedly a teenage girl who also likes cartoons from what I could gather. Obviously I can’t prove it actually is mark but the idea of a 22 year old man pretending to be a young girl on 4chan who’s in love with him and defends him constantly from people making fun of him is so fucking funny i hope it’s true.

Can't give a proper critique since I fell asleep watching it, but I will agree with what most everyone has been saying; it's very mediocre. Voice acting was pretty good, and I did like the backgrounds and lighting, but everything else is pretty meh. Didn't he say this was in the works since he was 17? Cause if so, I can tell. Dude had no idea what goes on in a show pipeline, and probably changed a lot of things during the production phase, which is something that you do NOT want to do. Hence why we have middle schoolers/ high schoolers going to a club, and characters paying to get on the school bus. You want to have the majority of your story and characters finalized during pre-production, because no one wants to redo half of the shots just because your vision has changed.

I bet everyone recorded their lines a LONG LONG time ago and we're just now hearing about it. I doubt Chris and friends would be helping Mark after Veronica left. I couldn't care less about some self-indulgent ego project though I wanna know who Veronica is cheating on Mark with. Someone younger and more retarded? Or maybe she's being age appropriate and nabbing someone with a real job and a savings account?
