Kamala... has no platform. And a lot of the people who might vote for her -on her own side- want to see it. This is her shining moment, her chance to finally make her platform clear. Its also her only chance. She has to not just not fuck up, she has to set out her vision. And failing to do so means massive, horrible, terrible voter depression on her side. And she has to do this while under fire from Trump.

And to make matters worse for her, she’s already a horrid debater (as 2020 showed). Additionally, she’s been doing NOTHING to improve on that. She’s been avoiding reporters/press conferences, town halls, unscripted moments, etc. Take her recent earbud stunt, for instance. Her sole interview (with friendly CNN, of all networks) was a train wreck that they had to abbreviate in an attempt at damage control.

She’s been getting in no practice for what she’ll have to face, as she’s avoiding all opportunities to seriously do so. She’s expecting to successfully go from Level 1 to Level 100 with the whole world watching- with Trump next to her, no less. The pressure there is astronomical, especially with the implications on her campaign/reputation/future place in the history books. And she’s been doing no preparation at all for something that she already sucks at on the beginner level, while having to perform said task at the expert level.

That’s why I’m cautiously optimistic about the debate.

That matches what I've heard, that #1 priority after Biden was installed was to undo anything Trump did, even if it was something they would have normally supported, specifically cause Trump did it. A pathological need to undo anything he could claim was a legacy. There were some things they couldn't nuke fast enough and stuck around later (mostly things one or more factions in the cathedral REALLY wanted) but others... yeah, nuked day one.
