Also, I don't want to hear a single fucking sonygger say some shit along the lines of "Ummm, actually, the ps5 is no longer being sold at a loss!" when this happens. You don't choose not to do a price cut of your system entering its 5th holiday season with a new hardware revision on the market, a hardware revision $300-310 more expensive than the base models and with basically nothing different, when you're as dependent on subscribers as sony is if you're in a comfortable position with the msrp.

you could actually buy any decent mid-high range PC (or even a Mini PC if you're a cheapskate) or laptop for the prices they're actually expecting you for a PS5 Pro, even more so with the disc drive and stand, probably even more so in the other regions where it's retardedly much more expensive like the UK or Japan.

The funny thing is, it can't do 8k. It can only do 4k@60fps on games from last gen, if they receive a patch.

In a normal generation, the console price has been cut by 1/3rd by the fourth year. A £500 launch console should cost £349 by now, so the PS5PRO is more than double the cost of what a PS5 should be.

The sonyggers say "You can't buy a 4070 PC for £700, the PS5PRO is equivalent of a 4070". Then respond to the high price by saying "This isn't an entry console, it's an upgrade for enthusiasts". Which destroys their PC argument as;

PS5 - £500
PS5PRO - £700
PSN x4 years - £400

If they can't build a powerful fucking PC, brand new or second hand, for £1600, then they're fucking retarded, which they are.
£1600 to play TLoU us in upscaled 4k@60 or play 50 years' worth of games from every platform to have ever existed, with the option to do so for free, if you really want to.

  • They make cell phones nobody buys because they cost a fortune and are underpowered compared to everything else
  • They have Sony Pictures Studios, that's currently only filming a few game shows that've been around forever
  • I know they also have an extensive back catalog of movies and music, but none of that's really valuable anymore in the streaming era
I dunno. Sony's huge, but it seems like they own a gigantic graveyard in the modern era. Just about every single aspect of their phenomenally enormous empire has been devalued or made obsolete by modern technology.

The smartphone has nearly killed the whole concept of the single-purpose electronic "gadget", which was really Sony's bread and butter for decades.

The 3.85Ghz Boost Mode comes at the cost of 10% of the GPU when active.

For the most part, it's still 3.5Ghz.

last friday with the boys we powered up the ps5 to play street fighter 5 and between the mandated 10 min update and the fucking trannie at the beginning, choosing whatever the fuck control settings and finally starting some ladder we wasted like 30 mins. what a fucking misserable experience

When $500 can net me a bitty box PC w/8 cores/16 threads, 32GB of RAM, decent APU, 1TB (replaceable) M.2 SSD, 2.5 gigabit ethernet, built-in wifi & bluetooth, dual USB 4 ports, and enough horsepower to drive 4 144Hz displays, this $800 console doesn't even remotely impress me.

Granted ... an external blu-ray drive would probably still cost $80. Ah well ... add $20 to that and it'll write BD-R, DVD-R and CD-R discs too, unlike the PS5 drive.
