Third Chechen War is about 99% inevitable and will be worse than both previous wars combined. It might even start before the end of the SMO. Second 90s will probably happen as well. So change of topic, is there any real native opposition movement in America to their involvement in Ukraine? When Iraq by Bush/Blair was invaded, there were a couple of million of us marching in protest.in Bongland. But by the time of Libya the powers that be seemed to have got a very good grip on managing public opinion because our bombing of that country was no less unethical and destructive but the anti-war movement barely got off the ground with it. There were some of trying to counter the narrative but unlike with Iraq and the bullshit about WMD, the equally bogus justifications about poor oppressed civillian protestors in Benghazi and lies about popular uprising seemed to be much harder to gain traction against. Now by the time we've come to throwing billions into Ukraine and fuelling the war with Western weapons and Intelligence, the only protests I've seen here are ones beggging for more support for Ukraine. I can meet people in real life who are opposed to it, find people here obviously. But I've seen I think zero actual organised protest. That's why I raised an amused eyebrow about the comment about how the USA is "exactly like" the Third Reich. You can go out in the USA and speak your mind, you can post your opinions under still strong consitutional rights. The control is all soft control - it'll hurt my career, Facebook will shadowban me, whatever. They're not nothing. But you look at countries like Iran or many African states where speaking against the government will get you executed and they still protest things. It's no wonder that the rest of the world looks at us and considers us the people complicit in what our governments do to them, when people wont even go out and speak against it.

When the war is over I would expect those people to return to their homes and rebuild, if it isn't a radioactive wasteland. Even then there would be areas they could go back to that can sustain life.

You're actually not talking about immigration at all, at least not as the term is commonly used. You are talking about offering temporary refuge to people, under the assumption that they are guests who will not try to supplant the native population, and who will eventually go home. In principle, I am much more open to this idea in general, although there are two major problems with it: Firstly, what if those people refuse to go home? This is the case with many of the so-called refugees flooding the West (with our Governments' collusion, of course), and it is much harder to get rid of people than it is simply not to let them in in the first place. 2. If you offer refuge to one group of people, it inevitably leads to a loosening of restrictions on other, often less desirable groups. See where the 'nation of immigrants', 'Give me your tired, your poor etc.' notions have led the US, for example.

It's not ironic at all. 'Guest workers', who enter a country on a temporary basis, are not the same as immigrants who are expected to settle permanently and to be considered the same as natives. Again, I am less opposed to this idea in principle, but also again, I don't think that the risks are worth it. Turks were originally brought to Germany as 'guest workers', and look at the country now.
