The fact check about eating the ducks isn't ment to fact check. It is a coded command to the loyal NPCs not to investigate the particular issue further. They are going to deny any other issues related to Springfield or the Haitians because the gauntlet of truth has already been pegged to the eating of pets.

This invokes an interesting dichotomy that is quite confusing to an outside observer without understanding of the above. Do you notice some of their fact checks end up looking like WW1 battle lines? This is an effort to maintain the reality dampening bubble around a specific issue. Usually an issue where the remaining optics surrounding the issue outside the specific fact check is far worse for them.

They are using the narrative that "both sides twist stories a little here and their to favor their side" which is completely true to an extent but the solution to that is supposed to be to do your own research and make your own conclusions which are usually somewhere in the middle.

Instead they take it to mean you should ignore Trumps words and anything else surrounding that issue entirely unless trumps words are proven to be exactly perfectly correct and true. That is bad enough for logical politics on its own...

Recently something much more insidious is happening. They are tying issues controversial to the left into these Trump reality distortion bubbles to justify censorship of their own. Now your not allowed to talk bad about Wal Mart or Dick Chaney lest you hand Donald J Trump the presidency. Fall in line or you might as well put on a nazi uniform and go down to work at trumps holocaust camps.

Well, I am a millennial but I think you're basically just describing every generation millennial onwards now. It's all gonna be all screen all the time. It made me pretty sad seeing an 8 year old kid using two phones at the same time, 1 to swipe through TikTok videos (without even really paying attention, just mindlessly swiping) and 1 to play Minecraft half assedly.

I'm so glad my childhood wasn't like that, I was online as a kid but not for all of it and I wasn't as mind mushed as kids just handed phones to keep themselves entertained all day like that kid seems to be.

I do actually think smartphones are a blight. We're too online now and it's like pandora's box has been opened. 12 year old me would have been amazed at the idea of being online from anywhere in the palm of my hand, and to a degree I was when I got my first iPhone, but at this point I kind of wish it would all go away.

Going online used to require a little bit of effort, that was better. Also, the annoying streamers and vloggers at my lakes and hangouts wouldn't exist.

Basically I wish I got to be an adult in the 90s, now I wouldn't be too far from retirement and I could go back offline again.
