The thing about that fable is that you read it as a kid you really didn't understand what was going on, but it preys on the idea that adults can be bamboozled into thinking a different way out of shame or culture, while children lack the nuances of such things, allowing them to see things for what they are.
The way debates work in the US is that hard core political nerds watch the actual debates but soundbites from the debates end up used in political advertising. It seems to me that most of Kamala's best soundbites from the debates were old stuff that we had seen before ("Charlottesville," "Bloodbath"). I don't think her debate performance was really that impressive.
