Sony hate thread

The Digital Foundry and co. cope of shrugging off the scalping epidemic and it's consequences has been frustrating. As if it hasn't emboldened companies like Sony and Nvidia to fuck customers in the ass while invoking the inflation and supply chain meme.

I hate the press so much bros.

Watching all this retardation is making me nostalgic for my PS2. I think I'll bust it out of storage and see what the modding and homebrew scene looks like
You're in for a good time. The freemcboot memory card is cheap, there's tons of how to video's of adding an hdd to it to play fucking everything, and then there's high quality scalers like the retrotink to hook it up to modern monitors and tv's to play it on. Recently got the 4k version after saving up, honestly I think it was worth it.

The price of the Pro, combined with the increase in price of the slim in Japan, and controllers in general is really making me believe that conspiracy that Concord was a much bigger loss than previously thought.

The gajillion dollar troon that broke the camel's back

If that's what the market will bear, it only make sense to charge a fortune - if nerds are going to buy my shit whether it's $400 or $1400, why wouldn't I take that additional thousand dollar profit margin?

Price is ultimately determined by demand and it's the responsibility of the consumer to refuse to pay those prices for a luxury good.

It's not the message. It's the lie. That's what's annoying.

They get sent everything pre release for free, no reason for them to care about ordinary people trying to get one for list price

I'll never understand the mindset behind arguing "you just hate it because you can't afford it!" Nah, I can afford a Tesla just fine, but there's a fuckton of reasons I don't want to and never will. Come to think of it, it's the exact same with the PS5 Pro.

But why does anyone think insulting people and calling them broke/cheap is going to improve sales?

I know these are consoomers and not corporate drones (at least, not on Sony's regular payroll), but what's the cause of this modern "insult them until they love us" mentality?
There just isn't enough space for any kind of PlayStation in my life anymore. I am long past my teenage years, and have many new interests beyond video games. I still enjoy video games dearly, but I already own plenty of machines that play the ones I enjoy. I am very fond of the way PC gaming has gone in recent years, with nearly every game being available in one way or another, and such things like DIY streaming and PC-based handhelds letting me play anywhere. It's really nice.

But, uh, sure, call me a poorfag because I have no interest in spending a small fortune on yet another game box that would require me to repurchase games, with no guarantee any of them will run on the PlayStation 6. It's not 2005 anymore, and I'm not begrudgingly buying a replacement PS2 because my fat one's laser went out, entirely because Guitar Hero is an exclusive.

I think a lot of people are very happy with their setups right now. Nintendo guys have walls full of Switch games, and PC guys have access to the whole world, now even at prices even cheaper than consoles. Geoff Knightly can call me a poorfag all day, but a $400 Steam Deck's strong enough to run anything a PS5 Pro can. If the response to that is "muh 4k", then we're getting into that audiophile territory where dudes aren't buying stronger equipment to enhance their games, they're buying games to justify their expensive equipment.

Given the ps5 lost 2/3 of its sales after upping its price to combat overseas scalping, is it fair to assume 2/3 of the ps5's sales in Japan were from overseas scalpers?
I think that they lost those who were on the fence about buying an already overpriced console with no games. Many think that PS4 has enough games and performance already so why upgrade? Many think the same about the PS3 too. The price increase was the final straw for a lot of people. You either got it when it was cheaper or you wait for the Switch 2 while playing on the Switch or PS4. Point is, increasing the price just made people choose not to buy and that will hurt Snoy and all those who were hoping for a successful PS5 to make ends meet. Snoy will have to answer to a lot of companies when their games do not sell on a console that did not sell. At times like this you lower the price so that more people buy your console which will lead to them buying more games. You might be a bit on the red afterwards and have to dig in the savings but that is exactly what those savings are for. Nintendo did it with the 3DS. But remember, most game companies do not have savings, they put all their money on the next game and the success or failure decides how many people get fired.

It's important to keep in perspective that these are the type of people on Twitter/Reddit calling anyone critical of Sony poor and uncool. If they have a positive opinion of you, you're probably doing something terribly wrong with your life.

So after the catastrophic failure that was Concord and the mass negative public reaction to the PS5 Pro, What are the chances that their next live-service game "FAIRGAME$" is going to get shit canned?

I don't think Sony is willing to take another reputational and financial humiliation like they did with Concord. If the company executives had any sense they'll be smelling blood in the water and know how it is going to be the public reception to this game as well.

I believe this game is not going to see the light of day, Sony might kill it like Sega killed "Hyenas" and just add it as another tax write off.

Then again it might actually release and they'll suffer a Concord part 2, which would convince me that the executives at Sony are totally insane and there is no hope for the company.

Pretty high but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed just yet. Considering the sheer confidence they had with Concord, I think they're still pretty delusional and haven't quite figured out how their market research team could have possibly led them astray. So there's still a fair (haha get it) chance that they'll try to launch FAIRGAME$.

Regardless of which option they take, right now they're probably checking their options and trying to see if its possible for them to tweak FAIRGAME$ in such a way that it's a minimal loss. Like say, adding bots last minute to make sure the game would at least function with a bleeding playerbase at launch. If that turns out to not be possible, they're for sure shitcanning the thing.

Even long before "consoomers" became a word, I never got along with those kinds of people. There's just fuckin' nothing to them. They're empty husks posing as people. They get worked up and vilify you if you try to tell them there's a whole world of interesting things outside of the video game machine they bought at Walmart, and that was even back in the days when consoles were interesting and fun. They treat it like their religion, tying their identity into it, and bring along the zealotry, to fill that gaping void in their lives.

I'm glad they're such a laughing stock these days. It used to really feel like I was the only one who saw them for the insane bootlicking retards they always were.

Sony is too far dug into California to cut down on the faggotry. That train has no breaks, the only way it stops is by going full speed into a ten yard thick brick wall.

My guess is that Sony's interpreting it as poor marketing. I remember Concord getting announced whenever the fuck ago, then suddenly it was out. Granted I adblock everything, but nobody I know was talking about it other than the people here making fun of the Troon Marine.
