I think the idea and notion of "Projection" gets thrown around wayyyyyy too much. It was an innocuous statement and he's made that point now several times in contexts where he wasn't necessarily trying to defend himself. I think him spotting a few hyper-religious couples in their swinging spaces be it online, at the depraved sex store, or in their travels is just as equally likely as him making things up to defend himself. Or it's possible he just met a few couples at Hedonism II who were also super religious.

We don't really know and probably never will, but the comment from the pothead's stream and Nick's comments lining up makes me not want to instinctively dismiss the possibility. Maybe they did swap with a couple from their church once. I certainly don't think it was 6 or 7 couples, but still. Hypothetically, it's possible they swung with a couple they knew who attended the same church. Then they didn't keep their mouths shut, rumors spread, and that's why their church really started looking at them closer. Which led to the pastor and other concerned church goers making their reports. Maybe the rumors were spreading for awhile, and Kayla knew it, hence why she called their polycule the Qover. They were already exposed locally, so it was on her mind to cover things up from that happening again. That'd explain why Nick constantly tiraded about gossiping church goers for so long.

I'm not saying this is what happened, but it's something to think about. I guess my overall point is, nothing comes from nowhere. Even lies have to get their inspiration from somewhere.

My post has little to do with projection. Again, people who are engaged in activities that are often found contemptible or otherwise abhorrent will often say something along the lines of, "Well, everyone is doing it." This is not a projection, but a defense mechanism. Even if they believe their own bullshit, it's often due to selection bias.

I think people are way too credulous when others make vague insinuations with no evidence.

This fits right into that as well.
