He possibly does a lot of egosurfing on himself and his game. Youtube does have a filter system where you can check the most recent videos posted.

I see, you have not seen global storyline array that uses integers as state of story.
His skills are Junior level at most. Heartbound is coded like he had seen Yandere Sim memes and decided "ah yes swiches over if/else! I am now master programmer".

I jumped around his "dev stream", all he did was small refactor while being confused by simple type mismatches.
Also his spering about getDamage() returning metadata instead of numeric value speaks a lot about his general inexperience.
It could be named better, but grouping all info about damage into damage metadata is generally not that bad of an idea.

For the non programmers here, I'd like to provide some contrast. Here is a completely random 7 minute clip from a Jonathan Blow programming stream. For context, this is about character animation blending and he's talking to a subject matter expert about the topic.

By completely random I mean I used a random number generator to pick this clip from his playlist of game engine programming stream vods. This isn't meant to be a great or bad programming video, this is meant to be a slice of Jonathan Blow's average.

Are there gamejams that aren't free? The gamejams also have that characteristic retard touch by requiring you to create and post a game design document to even enter. He probably heard that AAA companies use those, even though they're really for large teams to remember what shape a bullet hole should be, and not for small indie teams who just want to prototype something. It's also called the "Pirate Software Game Jam" which is clearly part of his brand, with maldy figtree himself as the only judge. This obviously helps his image more than anyone entering it, which is easy to prove because when his image as an "industry veteran with 20 years of experience" is in danger he drags it out. It reminds me of Jirard hosting charity events and then claiming that none of the money benefits him at all, even though he gets the brand recognition, subscribers, and goodwill.


Same for the discord which provides free information for 200,000 people. His corporate brand now has 200,000 people watching it and who trust the information they've given. Yes, they only have one judge listed, and it is him.

Every interview or AMA he did sucked blizzard cock up until the moment other people came out against it, and then he jumped on board. He posted on reddit about how great his past experience at blizzard was, and then on twitter, retroactively changed his experience to personally reporting female employees being threatened with rape. He also says he left due to shit pay and bad working conditions, but he spent almost a year at amazon studio where he claimed they paid him well and treated him well. Every possible detail is rewritten to serve his profitable narrative that he's a skilled-but-disgrunlted industry veteran who left the industry to save indie gaming.

By his own Judgement criteria Jason is a complete failure at game development.
Heartbound isn't playable, it's been in development for over 8 years and has less than 5 minutes of actual gameplay. The rest is visual novel slop.
Heartbound is inconsistent with theming. It doesn't know if it wants to be undertale or a self insert for Jason's fantasies or softcore furry porn.
Heartbound is not clever at all. It's 4 generations unoriginal: A clone of a clone of a clone of a clone. I haven't ever played it and I already knew the plot just by seeing a screenshot of it because I already knew the plots of Earthbound and Undertale.
Heartbound has the artistry of furry hentai. That is to say none at all. What separates Heartbound from generic earth bound clone #912937917823? This game is so generic people even have dedicated memes for the cute indie game that's secretly about depression. Heartbound has less soul than almost all the triple A's that Jason says he hates. Yet he still touts it as his magnum opus.
