could NijiEN have been saved if they gutted out all the bad apples?
The issue is that as far as we know, the Bad Apples are talents themselves, and the last thing NijiEN clearly needs is to start firing their money makers in a situation where they have lost half of their revenue. If Niji had done something prior to the Selen incident maybe, but at this point I don't think they can without outright killing the branch.
If you fire everyone that has been deemed bad by affiliation of the events surrounding the departure of Selen... Fuck it, let's fire everyone affiliated with Elira and "The Clique". NijiEN would be left with Aster and whoever the new people are. Reality is that you'd have go to the very start of the company and purge any nepotism hires. Nepohires constantly do damage in this industry space. Hololive learnt that quick with Sana. Phase has been lucky that it's nepohires are still civil with one another.
Late, gay and autistic reply,
I disagree; in my opinion, the real problem, the real bad apples, lie within management—all the way to the top. The issue with Nijisanji is that Riku is a complete cheapskate with no vision for the future. The entire management structure is kaput, and all the issues facing Niji EN have existed since the first JP talents were recruited, before the Nijisanji resistance was even a thing. Bad payment structures, office politics, internal strife, bullying, harassment, backstabbing, favoritism, and every PR blunder or drama are direct results of poor management and an even worse management structure. Nijisanji was never designed as a talent agency; the first wave was created to sell Anycolor's Live2D app. Perhaps this is me being delusional (or engaging in some revisionism), but it feels to me like this is part of the cause for some of the structural issues with Anycolor. I mean, why would they have "invested" in talents or proper managers when the talents were just an ad for the real product?

In one of his old investor reports, Riku openly admitted that Anycolor is not a company that "invests" in creating growth for the future. Most of Nijisanji's success comes from the fact that it has connections to major corporations like Sony and the fact that they were one of the first corpos in the VTuber market.
Riku is unwilling to invest money into hiring good staff or managerial talent; instead, he prefers to hire students or delegate these jobs to his talents. He also refuses to pay his talents a direct salary or wage, opting for a "profit-sharing" model—[insert 2% meme here]. This results in perverse incentives and mismanagement, favoritism, or, as was the case with Niji KR, a branch being run by a talent who then proceeded to bully and harass her coworkers.

What does Anycolor even do for their talents, especially the unpopular ones? Do they plan content or help with content creation? Nope? Do they give them PR training or any training at all? Nope. They give you an audience for your debut and a giant book filled with rules and red tape. Also you get access to discord server. That is it!

Imagine you are a two-view liver; you are unprofitable for the company, you don't earn enough money to pay for anything, and management has essentially abandoned you. Meanwhile, some of your coworkers are on cloud nine, swimming in super chats, views, and merchandise. What would you do?

A) Grind in solitude, stream every day, plan content off-screen, and dedicate your entire existence for months, maybe a year, for the chance to rise to a three-view, maybe even a four-view? Reminder: you are losing money until you "make it." OR B) Would you try to sabotage some of the other talents, maybe stir up some drama and controversy? Get some talents on management's bad side, and magically, you are more likely to get merch opportunities or more money. And even if it doesn't work, some cheap drama can always give you a quick boost in views (which also means more money).

One requires dedication, effort, and a willingness to live off cheap instant noodles for a year; the other can be done in a single afternoon on Discord.

It is management's job to prevent this: to create a sense of unity, to solve interpersonal issues between talents, and to make each talent feel like they benefit from each other's success. We know Niji doesn't do anything in that regard, even in JP (just look at the Yuzuki Roa vs. Meiro case). Obviously, some of the blame lies with the whole Niji EN - Selen saga, but if any of them had been given actual PR training or if they had competent management, this whole issue could have been avoided. Imagine if Niji EN had a PR team read the termination notices of either Selen or Zaion, or if any of the management had been trained to do so. Or if someone had checked the script for the black screen stream. Or if Selen situation was peacefully resolved behind the scenes. All that could have been prevented if Niji EN had a competent manager.
Compare this situation to Holo or even Phase Connect. Hololive had terrible managers in the past (the whole Mel stalking situation or the Omega retardation), and Phase Connect had Sakana as manager, who, as Dittzy mentioned in her out-of-character stream, literally went into VTubing blind with no idea what he was doing. Yet both organizations had enough sense to realize that their talents should receive a base salary. This alone would stave off so much conflict. It’s difficult to imagine the original Phase JP talents resenting Pippa or wanting to sabotage her; after all, the revenue she brought in may have paid for their salaries.

Riku also has no real vision; his mind can't think or plan beyond the next quarterly report. Compare that to Yagoo's AKB48 clip. What was his vision for Hololive? It was to be the VTuber equivalent of AKB48. This is a clear product with clearly defined customers (mostly lonely men aged 20-40)—something marketable, distinct, and with an existing product/industry to emulate, along with a distinct idea of what type of content and skills should be produced/invested in. It even has a telos: "to create culture loved by all," which translates to English as "to spread idol culture across the world."

Now then, what is Riku's vision for Nijisanji? What is the product? Is he selling idols? The VTuber equivalent of K-pop boy bands? Who is the customer? Sexually frustrated women? People on Twitter?

Take the canceled concert at Anime Expo, which led to the -8 million yen loss in Niji's last financial report. Or Riku's response in the Q&A, where he stated that Niji EN would focus on more music content. Is this what the Niji audience craves—more 2D spinning karaoke? There is so much creative potential they could explore with their 3D models, so many different types of content they could produce. Why is Niji trying specifically to sell concerts and music? Is it because Hololive can do it? Is it because Hololive succeeds at it? Riku seems to be trying to copy the competition without understanding why it works for Cover. Cover has built its brand around idol culture, and many of its talents cater to fanatical idol fans—specifically, the "unicorns." Meanwhile, some Niji EN talents are openly hostile to that crowd (Enna and Finana come to mind). Yet they still want to sell content to that audience? Riku and his team are completely clueless.

Tl:dr managment hate

I think this one was recommended either here or on the other site a while ago (probably by Tako) but she showed up in my feed:
It's in Japanese but the translation seems to be accurate and easy to understand. I really like the idea of vtubers doing themed educational content and wish there were more doing it. She recently did a collab with Kakapo, Raden, and some other vtubers who I think were all studying science or history. Maybe Pico can join them someday.
Speaking of vtubers doing educational content, here's our favorite Australian (woman?) on the Emu War:

This is probably old news to a lot of people but I recently learned that Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion and Lunacid were made by the same person and that that person is a vtuber:
His channel has been inactive for a while but this is where he would stream. Haven't watched any of his stuff yet but I thought some people here might find it interesting:

Since I'm shilling Austalians today:

And another Austalian (this one is a past stream):
Pretty good look into how insidious this game and everything around it is. My only complaint is that he didn't go into detail about how the main antagonist represents objective truth (I've only watched E;R play this for a few hours so I don't know the whole story of the game). The part a little bit over an hour before it ends where he talks about the possibility of media like this not caring about quality because it is actually targetting children who don't know the difference was an especially good point. It's why I'm a little bit saddened everytime I hear about people who don't know any media from before 2006 or younger people arguing that the Star Wars prequels are good movies only because their point of reference is modern films which are somehow far worse.

Also an archive of the stream.
Edit: Fixed the link.
So apparently Shondo didn't actually delete the VOD herself, but it was actually Twitch.
The ban's 30 days and is for "suicidal or self-harm behavior". Nothing says "we're concerned for your mental health" like banning her for a month over it.

Alcohol + Schizophrenia = Bad Time
Is she actually schizophrenic?
If so my absolute sympathies to her. I really hope she isn't and its just your run of the mill woman menhera.
Knew someone with it, they had to drink a lot to deal with it. Sadly not with us anymore. Good man.

He's definitely batshit insane too. Has some nonbinary bullshit going on

"We heard you aren't doing so hot, so we're going to make your life miserable and even more uncertain. Feel better soon."
What? Who thinks like this? This is psychopath behavior.
