She earned some money by busking with her violin until it was stolen. She was not the brains of her own operation. It was the men who got things done for her.

If she were to try and do that today, she would no longer have her youthful looks to curry that much favor from men. Allegedly she was not carrying a violin to busk. So that would leave her begging on main street drags.

The first time she ran away from JFG, she ran off to her parents until JFG pressured her to come back saying that he would find another woman if she was not back by day X. She came back.

So why didn't Mama JF run off to her parents this time too? Did she vocally talk to either her parents or sister and tell them what she was planning on doing?

Did JFG act the same exact way he did when she first ran away by pressuring her to come back by day X or else he would find a new woman? On this end, no. He did not talk about it until it was well past the time she was gone. He did not try to coax her back. He did eventually advertise himself up for more insemination.

Well, we can't know what precisely the cops involved in the investigation think. They're obviously going to play their true thoughts close to their chests. There's a good chance they suspect JF is full of it but can't do much about it as things stand. Anytime the public doesn't get exactly the result they want right away the cops are accused of incompetence, but criminal investigations can be complicated and in this particular case there's just not a lot for them to work with.

Canada has a double jeopardy law but no general statute of limitations for serious crimes. If they jump the gun and take JF to court with what they have now, there's the strong possibility a jury could decide there's reasonable doubt and find him not guilty, which means JF gets away with murder permanently. Best bet is to wait and hope some more definitive evidence materializes at some point.

As for whether the cops should have been more aggressive in their investigation, Patoine's socially isolated lifestyle kind of precluded that. No one even knew she was missing until months too late. Homicide investigations gather a lot of information from social contacts of the victim: friends, co-workers, people who interacted with them during their final hours, etc. Patoine doesn't seem to have had any of those during her life with JF. Again, there's just not much here for the cops to sink their teeth into.

Sure, low population areas tend to have fewer murders, but the province is among the poorest in the country and has the highest population density among Canadian subdivisions. WTF does Jan 6 have to do with the JF case?

Nobody from Jan 6 was jailed for just "walking into the wrong place." Most of them were convicted of the crime of "obstructing an official proceeding," which, technically they did do, as they prevented the confirmation of Biden from taking place. Others were convicted of things like assaulting officers. But the crucial point here is that there is hard proof of their crimes (whether you consider them serious offences or not): video footage, text confessions, etc. There is no hard proof in the JF matter, but a whole heaping of reasonable suspicion, guilty behavior and circumstantial evidence. That's why they're locked up and he's not, not because tyrannical Canada was forced to seethe and acknowledge he didn't do it.

Also, Jan 6 was a major global news story, so there is political capital to be had from making a big show out of it. Nobody cares about JF outside of a small number of people on the internet. The leftist power blocs in Canada would gain nothing from railroading him.
