I didn't see a discussion thread for this batshit insane documentary from the makers of Tiger King so I thought I'd make one. The documentary is about Tonka, a former Hollywood chimp and Tonia Haddix, an exotic animal broker who's obsessed with chimps. Watching this is surreal--to see the other side of animal abuse? Where someone loves something too much and is so delusional they don't realize their love for a wild animal is bringing it pain and suffering.
Tonia has a pretty creepy obsession with Tonka--honestly to the point of zoophilic undertones in a lot of scenes. The good news is this chimp did end up being rescued and is now in an accredited sanctuary and receiving help. Weirdest part of the documentary is that PETA of all people seemed sane. They're probably happy with how much good press this documentary is giving them. Still don't like PETA though.
