Disney joins Netflix and WB in cutting contact with male feminist Neil Gaiman.
can't wait used in ferdal court case to ban Ai
Let’s be real. Pedos at Pixar probably doing something worse with AI. Remember someone at Pixar and Disney okayed twerking being a major plot point in Turning Red. Turning red Novelization even names dropped twerking.

The significant devolution of pixar's well regarded artstyles to the things it creates devolving into bean mouth grubhub commercial quality is turning red's legacy.
Well I mean, that and the twerking scene.
...and the uh...
nineleven.

The movie doesn't have any strong musical numbers either
This is the one that spawned a million memes and parodies, i think that says something.

I was pleasantly surprised it turned out to be one of the best sci-fi movies since the early 80s what with the poor lonely robot that joined human survivors who happen to be fat rejects on a colony ship not too unlike what happens in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, without the time travel. However for the life of me I can't remember anything else. Time for a rewatch I suppose.

You should give it another try. I think it’s one of Pixar’s last masterpieces before everything changed.

Anyone else find it strange that people still get surprised you're not up to date on Disney and Pixar films?

I was recently somewhere and people were like, "You haven't seen Moana?" shocked. I'm a guy in my 30s. I think the expectation should be that I haven't.

That was the last one I saw. It was an extremely lame feminist parable.

to be fair a lot of people got caught up on movies and shows during lockdown and it's easy to forget that others were able to live normally.

“Being an alien with Zach Galifianakis in Hawaii, I’m not upset. I’m not upset at all about that. The opportunity to play such a character as Pleakley and just be crazy, which I love doing, was a gift. I don’t know even what I can say or really do. It was a treat. I can’t express it. I’ve been finally doing some ADR stuff for the film, and I’m like, “Oh, it’s gonna be good.” It’s gonna be good.”

pressing X button heavily on that statement, Billy
“I hope they embrace it as its own story. When they make these live-action films, sometimes I think people hold on to what the other one was, and they’re not in competition.”
*puts top hat on* YES, THEY ARE IN COMPETITION YOU DISINGENUOUS FUCKNUGGET. IT'S A REMAKE, OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO BE INEVITABLY COMPARED TO THE ORIGINAL. *takes top hat off*
Billy also spoke fondly about his time on set with Maia Kealoha, who plays Lilo in the new film.
“If I can make the little girl laugh, I was like, ‘I’m doing it right!’”
.....for Maia's sake, her parents had better be keeping a very close eye on her while she's on set. :c

This. If it used the characters and made a different story that'd be fine, but if you're remaking something 1:1 it needs to be perfect. Especially for something as beloved as the original Lilo and Stitch movie.

Not really. Not at your age anyway because that's age when people have kids of the target age.

While there are adults who watch family animation just for the fun of it, even more get up to date on Disney movies by having kids in their life. Disney used to be the safe choice to pop on a family movie night or when baby sitting. Something that's appropriate for the kids and well made enough to be entertaining for adults too. Likeness that you have had some reason see them is pretty good. This is also why minions got so big.

I did think after posting, the people with kids. This was not a group of people with kids.

i declare this to be the place to talk about this article. I forget if someone said it ITT, but Chapek was all but a patsy, a white boomer that through hard work lucked into a promotion right when covid hit, and then was tortured by jews until covid was over then given the boot. If you read between the lines it was all but obvious Chapek was just a temp, and every time there's an odd coincidence everyone just shrugs. "yeah it is weird that he demanded a person take his job so quickly when covid hit" "yeah it was weird how so many people in the company deliberately sabotaged Chapek every step of the way" "yeah it weird how Chapek was guilt tripped into not even sueing" "yeah it is weird how even Iger himself doesn't have an explanation for appointing his exact opposite who he knew nothing about to ride out the storm"

I also like how it still smears Chapek for not being progressive and that its now a social norm that whoever does get picked next by Iger will have to suffer Iger gossiping and smearing him to everyone he knows.

also they talk about Chapek's pay and $20 million but never having another job is such a bad compromise. Chapek got the Eisner treatment. Iger got them blacklisted everywhere now they're on a fixed income the rest of their lives.

I'm not sure of course but I have heard rumors that Chapek is more than fine with this arrangement, especially with all the shit coming out about Iger. He didn't like getting fired or being a fall guy but basically he's enjoying the retirement like any normal person who has money. Way more than dealing with Hollywood morons and Disney office politics anyway.

plus for him to be an effective fall guy, you have to not have the same person take over again who immediately makes everything shit.

Not true, according to The Prince, an effective strategy is to leave power and let someone else take over just to show to people how much they really need you. It's one thing to say "this company would be nothing without me" and proving it

Chapek being such a direct opposite helps the point further "oh you don't like my politics, here's a guy who's all business" "you don't like me being creative, here's a man who's all numbers" "you don't like me being a bullshitter, here's a guy who has low EQ"

Disney erasing Song of the South and James Baskett's contributions to acting as a profession will always be the one fucking thing that sticks in my craw about Disney. James was the first black man to ever win an Oscar, and only one of TWO individuals who've ever won an ETERNAL Oscar. Braer Rabbit itself is an actual AFRICAN story that was brought over. For a company that claims to be all about inclusion, they seem to be doing a lot of revisionist history around black Americans. James Baskett was an American Patriot, and a goddamn national treasure. I don't understand how anyone can be embarrassed over Song of the South. Period.
