Ok so I saw a vid of a girl with narcolepsy going to disneyland and she mentioned that the DAS pass thing isnt available for her anymore, just people with (severe) developmental disabilities/tism.

And the comments were FULL of autists complaining that even though they're autistic, they're weren't granted DAS by the people checking for not being quite retarded enough and wah wah discrimination woe is me.

Completely lacking the self-awareness that the hoardes of aspies (along with tons of adhd/anxiety cunts, general self-diagnosers and pretendians) like them misusing a system they dont actually need, flooding the service and destroying the functioning and waittimes of the service, is what caused it to be limited to just the severely mentally disabled who actually can't wait in line without having a full on tard fit/shitting themselves/whatever in the first place.

Sucks for the people with genuinely bad disabilities tho.
Something nice ruined because people think being mildly uncomfortable is equally as crippling as having ptsd-triggered seizures or being wheelchair bound and regularly having to do something medical in private (real examples of people who now dont have DAS anymore, from https://eu.usatoday.com/story/trave...disney-das-pass-changes-backlash/74310510007/), effectively making disney get rid of it almost entirely.

That is what happens to any "disability only" service the minute they relax the definition of "disability". You get all the shitbag liars, cheats and assholes taking advantage of it until the definition is inevitably tightened back up and then you have a bunch of shitbag liars, cheats and assholes bitching and moaning like 5 year old's about it for the next several decades.

So its honestly not surprising.

I feel like if it was just Pixar and Disney (or even just the entertainment industry) falling apart, people wouldn’t be calling it the downfall of western society. The issue is western society falling apart on a social and economic level as well. Whether Hollywood’s downfall is related to the greater societal collapse going on or not, I don’t know. But this is people see one thing falling apart, see another thing falling apart, and assuming they’re related.
The "social and economic" stuff is beyond the scope of this thread, though, in a nutshell, I think if you honestly feel that way some grass-touching might help a bit. The internet makes everyone hysterical.

As far as movies go, I think you gotta find other sources for your art. A24, Apple TV, Tubi, and Paramount Plus are all on fire (in a good way) at the moment.

I'm sympathetic towards people who suffer from the conditions you mentioned, but honestly if your condition is that bad you shouldn't be at a theme park to begin with. The stimulation alone must be a fucking nightmare.

God I wish I archived the comment, but I remember seeing someone sharing their tale of requesting their genuine DAS for their kid a while ago at the park, and the person after them requested one on account of 'getting lightheaded easily and needing to be near food at all times'. They had not brought their own bag of protein bars or anything like that.

Another commenter was also bitching that their adhd totally made them just as entitled to DAS as someones kid with a heavy case of Downs, and that thinking otherwise is ableist.

Also saw some people who said they tried to get DAS for shit like endometriosis and bipolar disorder.

Some anecdotal proof that the systems where put under a lot of stress by overuse of DAS:

The Incredibles 2 was so bland and meandering that it tarnished the story of the original. If they make a part 3 with the type of writing that is so common now it is going to completely crater the franchise.
The fact that The Incredibles is constituted as a “franchise” now depresses me. No film titan in the modern era seems content with keeping a previously successful, beloved movie as a stand-alone film. At this rate, I’m blithely awaiting announcements of sequels for Wall-E and Up.

It's a shame we got this way.

Maybe they will leave Up alone after the passing of Ed Asner, Carl's voice actor, but Wall-E seems sadly inevitable.
What are the odds the sequel would be about fat acceptance after the humans arrived back on earth?

Fundamentally, I think Wall-E is at odds culturally with its two (possible) take away messages: The Earth is dying, we're killing the Earth, we're all gonna die, let's go to SPACE! and Going to space is bad for us! Save the Earth! Don't be braindead slobs! Touch grass!

Panic about industry destroying the planet and it being the duty of the everyday citizen to concern themselves with the fallout and course correct is still on the table. Denouncing or even slightly lampshading the overweight lifestyle? Problematic, even when the individual can always do more for their personal health than an entire planet's well-being. But tweeting 24/7 is basically saving the Earth anyway so tackling the former is a more comfortable choice.

Up has already been picked apart for its more marketable parts and the idea of a story centered around the dog and the kid going on some adventure, possibly even making it a romance and doing a full cycle thing where the movie starts with Carl's funeral and ends with the kid starting his own family, is doable. Easy to market, no glaring agenda landmines, and chockful of opportunities to sideline the known character for a brand new badass black woman.

Unless Wall-E turns humanoid and they make Eve a strong independent black woman who leaves Wall-E for a better lesbian lover (or they make the robots they/them or something), I don't think they'd really touch it. A proper Wall-E sequel might make stuff you'd find in Self-Sufficiency and the life of a farmer/land lover look good, and you won't want that.

No wonder he wasn't allowed in Lightyear if he's going to do this. Disney people gonna hate him now, maybe they'll actually do a good thing and pull the plug on TS5

finally flatlined with Titan A.E.
i like to put that with atlantis and Treasure Planet as american animation attempts to be like anime. If any of those 3 films were made by japs they'd be considered classics instead of just cult classics and would have made a shitload of money. its crazy how everyone foresaw watching cartoons/anime going from something for kids to something that would be normalized to the point where even adults don't hide their love of cartoons and yet hollywood couldn't figure out how to cash in. Reminds me of how they saw short form content becoming king and they shit out Quibi and it failed massively but TikTok became the dominant website of our era.
. But this is people see one thing falling apart, see another thing falling apart, and assuming they’re related.
exactly, no one brought up the world ending when Dreamworks or Bluth shit the bed, and everyone sort of understood why the company that owns nick and MTV isn't successful anymore (the youth prefer the internet over cable)
Zootopia really does have the most bizarre message and world-building.
the problem is unless you make everyone the same then some group has to be the bad guys and the evil ones, etc. which means it will always lead to a message about racism or anti-Semitism. this isn't even a new criticism, people were talking about this literally in the 1920s.
where the movie starts with Carl's funeral and ends with the kid starting his own family, is doable.
i can already see the plot being something stupid about going back to bury his ashes or something dumb like that, maybe a new sad intro where the kid grows out of the scouts and stops visiting carl as much because he has his own life, or he had to move away for college or a job. The black mary sue could just be his live-in nurse. the talking dog dies saving the family from the other old white man again.

unless you mean anime not being kids cartoons. atlantis, titan ae and TP are the exception insofar that they aren't for all ages and packaged in a neat cutesy kids cartoon. titan and TP are YA, atlantis isn classic pulp where almost everyone on that 200 man sub fucking dies.
the problem isn't that they couldn't figure it out, they were just too early, shit like that tends to happen. on it's own they are not bad movies (and I'd go as far as claiming TP is a fucking great movie even with it's rushed climax), if they'd release today everyone would be all over it. remember even anime back then was absolute niche where the only people into anything else besides pokemon/yugioh/dbz were nerds to the point importing that stuff on VHS etc.

that's just a factette of "everything's political!", overanalyzing shit to the point it becomes absurd, like claiming tetris is an allegory for the brutalist architecture of the soviet bloc reflected in it's treatment of society yadda yadda. for anyone else stuff like zootopia is a funny movie where a rabbit becomes friends with a fox, because haha herbivore being friends with a predator.
that doesn't mean every movies should be enjoyed with your brain switched off, but more often then not it's just that simple without any "message".
