recession (slowly recovering), the last president was a democrat, republicans AND democrats were warmongers, and the list goes on. i think the most important fact is though that the way he shortened what he said and didnt act like the stereotypical politician of "i will do this and that" and (used to) not dodge questions, made him relatable and appeal to the average american. bush did this too, but he was a warmongerer. trump promised us to keep us out of war and also called out his political opponents in ways that havent been done in such a brash manner.

however, tactics like this only work one time, and i find it increasingly likely that people are becoming tired of his attacks and just wants him to stick to talking about policies only. there is a very high chance kamala harris might win the election, especially considering she even got the backing of several republican leaders and former officials like Dick Cheney.

sorry for the political sperging, but i think this likely explains why he became president in the first place and why he'll (most likely) not be re-elected. tactics like this only work once.
