Because almost all presidents have had assassination attempts on them, and Trump has had many before. Its just most don't get widespread coverage because it fails before it happens or there were no cameras on them.

Trump had like two other attempts in his first year as president, and even Biden had one last year.

The shooter's ("shooter" - wasn't clear if he actually fired according to SS) Twitter was just suspended. @RyanRouth. I was in the middle of soaking in how he was...kinda based? What a strange feeling. Dude was a full activist seemingly. He was interviewed by NYT last year about Americans joining up in Ukraine to help with the war effort (something he himself did).

“We can probably purchase some passports through Pakistan, since it’s such a corrupt country,” he said in an interview from Washington.
It is not clear whether he has succeeded, but one former Afghan soldier said he had been contacted and was interested in fighting if it meant leaving Iran, where he was living illegally.

I did see he tweeted at MANY artists asking them to help produce songs to help boost awareness of the Ukraine effort. Artists I saw included Bono, U2, Bruno Mars, and the Dave Matthews Band.

He was trying to recruit JiDion (and other yuppies at Harvard) to go fight for Ukraine. He talked a lot about "revolution" and "revolutionaries" trying to "fuck over the system" in his short appearance here. That tracks. Routh seems to be a massive Ukraine supporter (which tracks with how he supported Haley, she is (or was?) pro Ukraine unlike Trump).

It would be dumb politically to shoot at Trump now. If there is any conspiracy to shoot Trump or any president, it would be while they’re in office so a yes man could replace them, not while they’re campaigning where the failure could be martyrdom

It's in no one's best interest to make Orange Man a martyr. Now, if Loomer ends up taking Trump out by snu snu, that would be hilarious.
