There should be an anonymous posting feature for the self sufficiency board. There is so much stuff related to niche knowledge in there that I would like to talk about but don't want attached to my account. the system picks the most reacted to content. that's it. so the ragebait works and A&N falls for it. what you're seeing is a symptom of a subculture where people can't ignore retards.

we do it this way so that stupid funny comments also show up because they're often important ... in on-topic threads. in off-topic threads, they just make people angry. so I'd have to change it on a per board basis.

yeah we'd basically need an entire group of news staff dedicated to this and there's no way in hell. A&H has the absolute highest mod churn.

I don't expect moderators to go through every single post (especially when threads can pop off and go several pages per refresh), but rather look at "weighting" the stickers.
Like, it's one thing if it's one of many. But, holy shit, the recent Trump assassination thread is retarded comment after retarded comment, back to fucking back. And the problem is... I don't think it's bait. Maybe it is, but something tells me otherwise.
I know I'm not the only person who has this issue with retards being rewarded with attention (largely because the people giving them attention are just as retarded). So, don't shoot the messenger.

Just make a new board specifically for Community Happenings spergery posts and force on-topic in the thread itself. Anyone that doesn't stay on topic in the main thread gets category banned, and the discussion thread gets to be a free for all.

the point of community happenings is to direct people to new content and help users find areas of the site they otherwise do not post in. further compartmentalizing people from each other is exactly why A&N melts down the nanosecond they see a post they don't like to begin with.

Let's have a free for all subforum kind of like A&H, but this can be a forum where anything within the law goes, so no loli, CP, etc., but slurs, spam, thirstposting, and arguing between genders could be allowed. This would contain all of the off-topic spam in threads.

we also already have too many boards.
