BEIRUT, Sept 17 (Reuters) - More than 1,000 people, including Hezbollah fighters and medics, were wounded on Tuesday when the pagers they use to communicate exploded across Lebanon, security sources told Reuters.
A Hezbollah official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the detonation of the pagers was the "biggest security breach" the group had been subjected to in nearly a year of war with Israel.
Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah have been engaged in cross-border warfare since the Gaza war erupted last October, the worst such escalation in years.

The Israeli military declined to comment on Reuters enquiries about the detonations.
Iran's Mehr news agency said the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was injured by one of the blasts. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.
A Reuters journalist saw ambulances rushing through the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, amid widespread panic. A security source said that devices were also exploding in the south of Lebanon.

At Mt. Lebanon hospital, a Reuters reporter saw motorcycles rushing to the emergency room, where people with their hands bloodied were screaming in pain.
The head of the Nabatieh public hospital in the south of the country, Hassan Wazni, told Reuters that around 40 wounded people were being treated at his facility. The wounds included injuries to the face, eyes and limbs.
The wave of explosions lasted around an hour after the initial detonations, which took place about 3:45 p.m. local time (1345 GMT). It was not immediately clear how the devices were detonated.

Lebanese internal security forces said a number of wireless communication devices were detonated across Lebanon, especially in Beirut's southern suburbs, leading to injuries.
Groups of people huddled at the entrance of buildings to check on people they knew who may have been wounded, the Reuters journalist said.
Regional broadcasters carrying CCTV footage which showed what appeared to be a small handheld device placed next to a grocery store cashier where an individual was paying spontaneously exploding. In other footage, an explosion appeared to knock out someone standing at a fruit stand at a market area.

Lebanon’s crisis operations center, which is run by the health ministry, asked all medical workers to head to their respective hospitals to help cope with the massive numbers of wounded coming into for urgent care. It said health care workers should not use pagers.
The Lebanese Red Cross said more than 50 ambulances and 300 emergency medical staff were dispatched to assist in the evacuation of victims.

Hezbollah fired missiles at Israel immediately after the Oct. 7 attacks by Hamas gunmen on Israel. Hezbollah and Israel have been exchanging fire constantly ever since, while avoiding a major escalation as war rages in Gaza to the south.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from towns and villages on both sides of the border by the hostilities.

From OSINT

What we know so far:
- Explosion happened simultanously
- Explosions didn't only happen in Lebanon, but in Syria too so it's a long range to be wireless detonation signal.
- The pager is 'Rugged Pager AR924' produced by a Taiwanese company
- Small Li-Ion battery, can't explode that big
- None of the pagers caught fire, which is common incase of a battery 'explosion' rather they just exploded.
- However the pagers did heat up before
- All exploded pagers were the same model of pager.
- The pagers came from one shipment

Also pretty shitty headline considering this was an attack that could only hit Hezbollah members

Video of the attacks

Wouldnt even trust the toaster at this point

I would be bomb swabbing the fucking harem girls at this point.

My comment was a tongue-in-cheek shitpost, I never figured people took this shit seriously.

It was the only dissenting post that recognized the similarity to unibomber/IED tactics and I jumped on it. This wouldn't be the same thread if it was not featured (and it wasn't when I replied to you), and it won't be the same thread it is now in 2 days when the site at large moves on and the usual suspects are still single issue posting in defense of Judea from schizophrenics and clamoring for more US tax money.

Anyone who thinks I give a shit about dune coons hasn't been reading my haste postings. I just think these actions are going to drag the US into another hot war or another series of proxy wars in the Mid-East we can ill afford. The one thing the Arabs have in spades is man power (with a +2 to zeal), yeah they are so decimated and compromised they might as well start over... but that is exactly what they will do and in 10 years they will have tens of thousands of recruits/funders/sympathizers who remember hundreds if not thousands of people blowing up in the fucking streets in their home country. It's so visible and memorable that it will be their 9/11.

DogZero's under appreciated comment put more effort into explaining it than I care to right now: https://kiwifarms.net/threads/more-...anon-when-pagers-explode.200514/post-19364741 The Israelis have lost any tact and are running flagrant extrajudicial operations endangering the civies of sovereign nations. They have made enemies of nearly all of their neighbors in quick succession, save the Saudis. The US being dragged into their mid-east conflict is what they (and most of congress and the deep state probably) want and this is just another step toward it. It almost seems like they are pushing to force us into a war before it is too late as sentiment in the US turns sour and the empires coffers grow cob webs.

In short this is the nature of generational war, Hatfields and McCoys, Bloods and Crips, Arabs and Jews. This isn't a victory it's just another escalation of the conflict and I won't short sightedly cheer it on knowing that it will lead to hyper inflation and AIPAC puppets trying to draft my kids. Every time this happens and we abide it we get more and more inexorably tied to their conflict.

I’ve always found it weird how common circumcision is in modern times, even beyond the morality of it. Is it just something our ancestors did for hygiene reasons, so we do it now without thinking about it?
My ancestors never did as anything as stupid as that. US parents pay health merchants for unnecessary surgery and they keep the tip. They got greedy now and sometimes they take the whole thing away.

Due to the recent change in the security situation, the Lufthansa Group airlines have decided to suspend all connections to and from Tel Aviv (TLV) and Tehran (IKA) with immediate effect. This applies up to and including September 19. During this period, the Israeli and Iranian airspace will also be bypassed by all Lufthansa Group Airlines.
That makes me wonder, is it because the airlines are spooked because they are ill informed about how the explosives were activated or is it because they fear a member of Hezbollah (or someone with a pager) could take a flight and get hit with it and through that fear cause the airline to go down? Seems like the former than the latter, with bypassing Israeli airspace all together.

* Defense Minister Galant at the air force's Ramat David base: "The center of gravity is shifting to the north through the diversion of resources and forces." We are opening a new phase in the war - it requires courage, determination and perseverance from us. It is very important to do things at this stage in close cooperation - between all organizations, at all levels"*

Defense Minister Yoav Galant visited the air force's Ramat David base today. Minister Galant received an overview from the base commander Lt. Col. A and the squadron commanders on the operational activity throughout the recent period in all the theaters of war.

The Minister of Defense spoke with the air and ground teams, and expressed his appreciation for their significant contribution.

*Defense Minister Yoav Galant said:*

"The center of gravity is moving north, the meaning is that we are diverting forces, resources, energy towards the north, we have not forgotten the abductees and we have not forgotten our tasks in the south, this is our duty and we are carrying it out at the same time"*

"This operation is carried out by all the bodies and the task is a clear and simple task - to return the residents of the settlements in the north to their homes safely.
I think that when you look at the picture of the situation, the IDF brings excellent achievements, together with the Shin Bet, together with Mossad, on all the bodies and on all the frameworks and the results are very impressive results. We know how important it is at this time to carry out things in close cooperation, this happens first of all between all the players within the IDF together with the other organizations and also at the level of the most senior commanders. There is full coordination in the system and unity regarding the achievement of the goals: the Prime Minister, the Chief of Staff "L, the head of the Shin Bet, the head of the Mossad and the minister of defense - everything they represent, everything in a common way is dedicated to one goal - to bring the residents back."

"I appreciate that we are at the beginning of a new era in this war and we need to adapt ourselves, this is true for everyone, certainly for those who are in the air or control what is in the air because the position here is stronger, it is not Hamas, it is something else and we need to prepare for this matter properly , take that into account.'

"We need consistency over time, this war requires great courage, determination and perseverance. And thank you for everything you do and carry out, we are going to complete our tasks on all fronts and you have the duty, but also the right to be partners in this effort, each in his role - in the ground teams and the air teams.'

TLDR: Defense Minister Yoav Galant visited the air force's Ramat David base, where he received an operational briefing from the base and squadron commanders. Galant highlighted the shift of focus and resources to the northern front, while reaffirming commitment to tasks in the south, including efforts to bring back abductees. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between all organizations involved—IDF, Shin Bet, Mossad—and praised their achievements. Galant also stated that this new phase of the war requires courage, determination, and perseverance, particularly in air operations, as the threat has evolved beyond Hamas

Meanwhile on Hezbollah's side

#BREAKING Hezbollah deputy secretary general Hashim Safi Al Din threatened a "unique and bloody vengeance" following two days of suspected Israeli attacks on the communication devices of Hezbollah fighters, which have so far killed over 20 and injured more than 3,000 people.
“These attacks will certainly be uniquely punished; there will be a bloodily unique revenge," he said.
“I won’t talk about this at length” because “tomorrow, the leader of Hezbollah will speak and all will be revealed. And we will be in a new situation and a new confrontation with this enemy," he noted.
The enemy, he added, “should know that we are not beaten, that we will not break, that will not withdraw, and will not be influenced by what this enemy is doing.”

empty words from a muslim, considering how muslims use their own civilians as human shields, and how extraordinarily low the civilian deaths and harm have been in this operation so far. even hezbollah admitted that there have been almost no civilian deaths (2, at last count) from this, less than even muslims visit upon each other. you still have yet to correlate being glad muslims are gone with being happy about israel existing, but you're not capable of doing that, so i'm not going to hold my breath.

my suggestion if you're really really worried about the civilian population of your country is not to have your terrorist organization headquartered in the middle of a major city, and don't violate the laws of war by having all of your 'military' be plainclothes 'civilians' until they need to grab the gun and run in. also not shooting rockets into other countries' civilian centers to kill as many civilians as you can to cause terror and to dishearten the people helps. oh, and another thing they could do is stop raping and pillaging so much, that'd probably give me a lot more sympathy for the dead hezbollah.

except if they did all that, of course, they wouldn't be a terrorist group, and this would just be a regular war that i wouldn't care about at all.

Devices that are constantly enabled to receive commands use a lot of power.
That'a true, but these are mostly off until they get a ready signal from the transmitter, either in the form of an encoded identifier unique to that pager or an "everybody wake up" general signal. The pagers were kind of an ideal target here because of the way they work, and could also have different triggers so you could do this in waves, which seems to have possibly happened...

The ICOM radios would have taken a bit more knowledge to use like this. You'd need to know specifically what settings were used, but if the radios had been used and you captured the signal you could find what you need easily enough. Something as simple as waking up the radio on a sub-audible tone that the radio doesn't normally use would be a pretty safe trigger, especially with as unsophisitcated Hezbollah's security protocols seem to be. It's insane to think something so vital and widespread could sit there with bombs in them and you never bother to check despite being in an active conflict with someone known to do wizardry like this. It's understandable to fall victim to something like this once, but not learning from history...

More explosions in a building as firefighters try to put out a blaze caused by the first one:

Lebanese civil defense says that sixty apartments, fifteen cars, and dozens of motorcycles were set on fire.

What you mentioned, they probably did a quick risk assessment and decided to pull the flights. It's not worthy to lose a plane since they will loose a lot of clients too. Regular flights are a sign of healthy economy since they are often the first that gets spooked since they are very risk-averse.

Israel will never win an attritional war and will never simply kill all its enemies regardless of how competent they are operationally. Until they realize the war, they are fighting is psychic and not attritional they will continue to alienate their allies that secure their very existence and stand as the last psychic barrier to mustering the Muslim will for invasion and just create new fighters against them. So yeah, this operation is pretty impressive, but I think it is just another in a long line of strategic miscalculations this current Israeli administration has bought into with serious long-term consequences.
Completely ignores the repressive nature of Arab countries where the opinions of the people don't matter, only the rulers that have an iron grip on the people. Entire analysis is faulty because of this. Leaders of Arab countries like Egypt/Jordan/the gulf have too many interests tied up in Israel to allow the common people to ruin it.

It's because they expect rocket fire to happen over that airspace. The sand niggers have to retaliate in some way and it's usually by firing off rockets or missiles.

Muricans did it for puritan reasons. To stop masturbation. It was pushed by John Harvey Kelloggs. He is the main reason so many Americans dysfunctional sex lifestyle are only second to Arabs.
