So, let me get this straight...
* Phil sold the TheycallmeDSP account to someone else (even though a market for these accounts seems to be non-existent) after spending a few thousand bucks (this was during the time he was crying poor the hardest btw)
* The person who bought the account requested a name change to GunShow (forgot the actual name) and finally to DownFromTheRafters because he was getting harassed by people who thought this was Phil
* At no point during all this Phil ever considered telling people he had sold his WWEC account
* The new owner of DFTR then spent tens of thousands of dollars on the account, somehow always matching play times with Phil's streams, keeping the log-in streak and overall keeping the exact same patterns Phil had
* This new owner for whatever reason then sold the account after spending tens of thousands on it
* The now third owner not only decided to buy an account that is infamous due to it being linked to Phil, none of the new users ever changed their clans or anything that could indicate this is a different person
* For some reason, Phil kept contact with the second owner, who informed him of a third owner

It's been said before, but one of Phil's biggest problems when he lies is that he assumes the rest of the world is as fucking retarded as he is. At no point he ever considers that anyone being skeptical of this story is perfectly normal because it raises more questions than it answers. He could have just said that he sold it and that was that, but since people asked for him to bring the new DFTR into the show, he had to make a new lie that only makes him look more suspicious.
