One Piece - I'm Gonna Be the Pirate King!

ITS BEEN FUCKING ONE CHAPTER LUFFY...ONE FUCKING CHAPTER HERE AND YOU ALREADY ATE THEIR FUCKING GOD

I think the guys talking about the rabbit god are actually human. Their houses are made out of legos from the giants ans so on. A parallel society of sorts.

Also, it's so fun to see Nami and Ussop doing what they do best. Hope we get a few more chapters of just the East Blue crowd.

Oh crazy stuff will happen with how long a season takes, if they want to complete it they are going to have to make some big cuts. They don’t have 20 years to do this.
Without a doubt I hold this is a very bad decision for Oda. No matter what I don't think this will translate to readers of the Manga and at the worst it will shatter the Fandom. I am not sure how a One Piece primer would work since cutting things sounds counterproductive to get people into one piece.

It helps that they are keeping Oda more hands on so it seems for once the creator has more leeway in what is and what isn't acceptable as well as the changes needed for a live action show. I'm not gonna hold my breath if some crazy stuff does happen since i think most fans are live and let live with the live action show not upsetting the manga's canon.
The channel Frame of Mind made some excellent videos comparing One Piece to other properties.

I honestly doubt it.
The Japanese dub is the original voice actors. Oda is essentially directing a ludicrously expensive live action version of the anime like (insert long list of live action adaptations that are not true to the anime here but are normally done entirely in Japan). The only difference is Netflix is footing the bill.

It is making people slightly more aware of the source material, while not many will become manga/anime fans but it's not like Oda is having to pay for this glorified ad, he's being paid for it.

Heck, the BBC in the UK just bought (admittedly dubbed) access to a bunch of the anime episodes for their streaming service. Hard not to look at the timing and see it tying together.

I have noticed that there is a bit of a dislike for Merphy and Greene. What are the problems with them? Have they had any bad takes? I will say that being a complete normie book fan does change ones perspective alot.
Merphy's fine and bad at the same time because she's a BookTok chick. The fine is having a "mid" e-girl talk about your niche and the things she finds compelling about it. Plus, like a radiohead watching/reading JoJo and noticing Araki referencing music however he can, bookworms into One Piece can point out whatever fables, folktales, and other text Oda is referencing.

The bad? I can tolerate listening to Merphy, and she's easy to look at (le e-girl), but as I saw in later posts, there are some absolute clowns who just don't "get" One Piece by trying too hard to "get" One Piece. Some of them are kinda funny looking, and goofy in and of themselves too.

The message is there if you can read, but it's Shonen at the end of the day. I'm just here to laugh when Oda writes a funny, and feeling something when the man writes a tearjerker. And speaking of Shonen...

The crew looks great, but the world isn't ready Robin's Elbaf outfit.

I just realized it’s just the East Blue Crew right now.

Vivi is gonna show up on Elbaf and likely meet Robin and the others first.
Probably. But again, we could have Vivi be captured by the WG and brought to Imu. Somebody earlier ITT mentioned the post timeskip arcs matched a lot of pre timeskip arcs, so that could lead to the post time skip version of Impel Down and Marineford, with Elbaf being Amazon Lily.

Garp is time skip Ace, but I think Luffy won’t come because Garp will say something imploring him to find the One Piece and how he’ll tell him what it is if he comes to save him. Koby is gonna try to pull a Marineford.

I thought it was well established by Whitebeard that a Marineford would happen once The One Piece was found. Also, Marineford showed that Garp would treat Luffy like any other pirate and would stop his grandson from reaching his goals.

If anything, Koby rescuing Garp will be the Impel Down aspect, while Luffy makes his last real stride to go to Laugh Tale, leading to final showdowns with Blackbeard and Shanks. While Zoro FINALLY fights Mihawk.

Honestly i don't think there is a definitive way for people to be introduce to a long running series like One Piece at least not something that can't be curated by individuals who want to get into the series. The Live Action show is more of a way for people to get the basic gist of the beginning of the series and if they want to then they can go read the manga to get more details.

I could be wrong since i am coming from an experienced fan who has been reading the series since the beginning.

I’d say it sounds about right. Except I’ve heard some changes were made, like Garp doesn’t start chasing Luffy as early as Netflix had it, and they didn’t have Nami stealing the Going Merry to go to Arlong Park, and the barrel scene at the end happens after Loguetown, so Netflix has it much earlier than the manga. Also, Garp wasn’t at Roger’s execution, let alone overseeing it. And Sanji isn’t a mega simp (yet).

I’d say the live action does a good job at condensing things so far. At least thanks to Oda having such a tight control on things. If anything, it helps to make things seem relatively grounded.

So, I am finished with FI and PH and on to DR. And man, I have to say, I really love having a villain that isn't just a retard with a speech impediment for once. I've gotten really sick of those after the past couple of arcs.

Last night in a dream, there was a point where I was reading one of the newer One Piece volumes after buying it, and I got to where Koby said something along the lines of "I'mma be stopping Luffy ooooOOOOOO fo' rizzles yo" and I went "GodDAMN IT" and had to show it to my husband for us to declare death to all localizers.

I hope that's not a premonition and that Viz, despite being pozzed, has remained smart enough to not ever do something that retarded when it comes to One Piece.

Honestly, I don’t think you have to worry. From what I’ve heard, Oda is REALLY strict when it comes to other people handling his work, if Netflix is anything to go by.

It's not just Oda either, Toei and Shonen Jump aren't going to let anyone fuck with their golden goose.
Considering their other golden geese such as Demon Slayer, MHA, Black Clover and JJK have either ended or are about to be, they better take care of One Piece. They need a buffer until the next cash cow. Kagurabachi seems to have attracted the international fandom but we will see.
