Careercow Brandon "Bam" Margera - From Jackass to Lolcow

The worst an AA or NA addict gets is really annoying to listen to and boring at parties. I don't especially care to listen to Steve-O preach about sobriety, but I bet the people in his life are infinitely happier he's doing that and not snorting cocaine off a blood stained coffee table in some junkie's apartment or any of the other million fiend things he's shared about that period of his life.

I suspect this is a big part of the reason Bam doesn't get sober: most of his adult life he's gotten attention for being a degenerate fuck up. It's how he made his money and got his fame. If you take that away from him he's not an especially interesting, insightful, or entertaining person to be around. He's addicted to the attention as much as anything else, and people aren't gonna want to hang around sober Bam.

An addict is never fully clean. Once you allow it to enter your life, addiction will be a life-long battle. Sobriety is never permanent, it is something you will always have to work for and be vigilant about. Steve-0 will have his ups and downs regarding it that we don't understand, but at the end of the day he isn't a menace like Bam is.
Yeah, an addict's brain is fried in some way. But it's like Steve-O said. If you're not willing to make the change yourself, rehab will never work.
Hence why Bam has been to rehab a double digit amount of times.
At this point, I wonder if his alcoholism will take him to a George Best death. For those that don't know George Best, he was a soccer player who struggled with alcoholism for decades. Even when he was a big star, it was a problem. His health got to the point where he had to get a liver transplant, and he STILL couldn't kick the alcoholism away. Dude literally wasted someone else's liver, and the picture of Best near his death has him looking as yellow as a Simpsons character, very grim stuff.

Anyways, here is a r/LetsTalkBam thread where a fan has a theory: A head injury might have changed Bam's personality.
(I don't really agree tbh, there's way more factors to what Bam turned into than head injuries.)

Here's the link to the video of the cited injury.
Definitely not much to go in on because MTV didn't show the fallout buy yeah that definitely looked painful. While it may have been a contributing factor for Bam's decline I doubt it's the catalyst.

Steve-o is worse in the opposite direction. He preaches so much about how he is clean, that it becomes annoying to listen too. I was scrolling the youtube shorts and one of them was him sperging out because he was refusing pain meds from a doctor saying how he is x years sober. Like a shot of paracetamol or ibuprofen would send him down on a drug bender. The context is that he was in hospital for a serious injury and he was fighting the doctors advice. If his faith is shaken by pain meds. He is still an addict inside.
I mostly agree, but I’d add that there is no cure for addiction—it’s a chronic condition. While his focus on sobriety can be annoying, was he really refusing Tylenol and NSAIDs? Because if that’s true, it’s crazy—neither of those are addictive. If he was refusing opioids, then he probably had a valid point.

I've seen him get super dramatic and ramble about being addicted to nitrous when a Starbucks cashier asked him if he wanted whip cream w/ his drink. Can't remember what segment this was in.

I generally would not mind so much. But it is all the retard talks about.
Every podcast, every show.
It is the same story about how he was a fucked up party boy that would suck dick for drugs and how he is ultra mega clean now. Half the video's of him on youtube are him talking about how much of a brain fried retard he was.
Other people who have done bad things, like the mafia boss's and ex criminals who now run public speaking/youtube channels. They have some insight, some wisdom to pass on. What really can you learn from a former drug addict other than. Don't fuck your brain and life up by banging that 7gram rock. It is the same story as the guy down the street who steals your TV to pay for his fentanyl.

If Bam ever gets clean, we will be witness to how they will compete in the i got the more fucked up drug story. Bet's on Steve-O, saying how he sorted coke from a monkey brain while tied upside down from the golden gate bridge.

I wonder if any zoomers and alphas have heard about that guy. He peaked in the early 2000s, he was in a PS2 game, it's like a prehistoric thing for nowadays kids. I don't really believe that the bam margera name sells many skateboards or that the reruns of a 20 year old show "viva la bam" brings a lot of money. Maybe he still gets cash from the jackass franchise in a way. And maybe 5$ a month from Spotify for the earthrockers music.

Why is it that trash like this, just get all of the chances, the get out of jail free cards and almost endless sympathy. Yet clearly do not deserve any of it? Did hurting himself and filming it 20 years ago really buy him endless tolerance for his bullshit from everyone? Or his just as wasted boyfriend getting killed by also driving like a drunk asshole?
DUI charge, does he have to kill someone before everyone steps in and just locks his ass up for a few years.
People like this have money to buy really effective laws, last names usually ending in -berg or -stein.

I will never understand dewey's getting light sentencing. It's a fantastic opportunity to nail a fuckwit to the wall... but they dont.
Because it's a misdemeanor offense at first, people get a break the first time but repeat offenses rapidly stack up serious penalties.

The other issue is there's really no difference between other types of distracted driving and DUI so you can't be disproportionate in sentencing and consequences for this specific type of impairment. You also can't sentence people for the hypothetical outcome of their actions, only the crime they are convicted of.

I've seen him get super dramatic and ramble about being addicted to nitrous when a Starbucks cashier asked him if he wanted whip cream w/ his drink. Can't remember what segment this was in.
What a doofus, love to see him freak out about his precious sobriety if someone slipped him some booze in a drink. Or do me a favor and order a goddamn bullshot like in the Sopranos.

He's just using it for attention.

I think we all met a former addi t who now made sobriety their whole personality and this quote got me thinking that a sober Bamuel would be so much more infuriating than a addict one.

If he gets sober he's the one who will take it above and beyond. He will become "unhinged sober" and lord his superiority in every post. Wouldn't be surprised if he became a shaman himself.
He would be Steve-o x100 and if it's something g that would be absolute black hole cringe it would be Bam-O with his own pod.

Not gonna PL too much but I've been in rehab and recovery groups, and there is definitely an addictiveness mentality to "sobriety". Like how people throw out how many meetings they do or how long they're straight edge. Nigger please. If you're doing an AA meeting every day (much less multiple meetings per day) your ass ain't any better than the fenty junkie slumped up at a bus stop. At least they embrace who they are.
Did AA for 2 years. For me, I learned that drinking wasn't my problem, but other things. I was able develope healthy habits, and now I can drink like a normal person.

Some people aren't happy unless they can have atleast 4, 5, or 6 drinks. Those are the people who shouldn't drink.

Does he actually have any money? I would imagine he is still able to collect some residuals… do you think he’s still profiting enough on merchandising?
I don't think he's flat broke, only because Phil was probably smart enough to put away a decent chunk of it into long term investments. According to the surprise witness lady Bamuel's settlement over Jackass 4 was in the low double digits but also having Trumps ex lawyer on retainer can drain you pretty quickly.

Speaking of:
Former “Jackass” star Bam Margera appeared handcuffed in a suburban Philadelphia courtroom Monday as he was ordered held in jail ahead of a drug and alcohol evaluation after recently being pulled over for alleged DUI.

Chester County Judge Patrick Carmody at the Sept. 23, 2024, "violations of probation/parole" hearing called for Margera to be held through at least the following day when the substance use evaluation could be completed.

At Monday's hearing in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Margera appeared in the courtroom in an undershirt and handcuffs, NBC10's Tim Furlong reports. Margera was mouthing words to his wife -- Dannii Marie -- who he hasn't seen since last week and appeared to be crying, Furlong said.

Cameras are not allowed to capture images inside Pennsylvania courtrooms, so Margera wasn't photographed.

Intoxicated driving allegations concern judge in Bam Margera probation case

Court records show that the 44-year-old has been jailed in Chester County since last Wednesday following a driving under the influence arrest in south central Pennsylvania days earlier.

In court Monday, it was noted that Margera had been doing OK with substance and alcohol usage, but recently relapsed and was cited for DUI.

Due to a past DUI arrest in California and Margera's history of substance issues, the judge decided the incident is about more than just a probation violation.

Carmody said that his attitude toward addiction is different when you get behind the wheel of a car. And that the choice of intoxicated driving scares him.

Margera in court said that his wife is his sobriety rock and that he screwed up while going on a solo road trip.

What's next for Bam Margera?

Following Tuesday's evaluation, the court, probation and Margera's legal team can meet to decide next steps. His attorneys said they will try to get him into a rehab program and it will be up to probation to decide which one.

The plan is to reconvene in court on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, unless probation, the state and Margera's legal team can agree to a deal before then.

Attorneys Michael T. van der Veen of Philadelphia-based Van der Veen, Hartshorn, Levin & Lindheim and William J. Brennan of Philadelphia-based Brennan Law Officesspoke outside the court house and said they are taking the positives out of this negative saying that Margera is a "good guy that has an addiction."

"Everybody in the system -- from the defense team to the prosecution to the probation office and the judge -- are interested in seeing Bam get what he needs, which is not punishment, but treatment," Brennan said.

Brennan said that Margera has been "doing very well" with passing drug and alcohol evaluations. He called this incident "a little setback."

"Nobody's here with ill-intent," Brennan said. "It helps Bam get the needed treatment that he will probably be recommended to get."

"He's interested in getting better, he's interested in getting this case behind him" van der Veen said.

In a post on X, van der Veen's law firm said that the attorney expect Margera to be released as soon as Tuesday "or Wednesday at the latest.
No exact timetable for release was given in court.

Why was Bam Margera on probation in the first place?

Back in June, Margera was sentenced to six months on probation after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct over an altercation at his home near Philadelphia.

Margera was charged with assaulting his brother and making threats to other family members during what the brother called a “frightening and unpredictable” two-week visit home last year.

The plea ended a long legal case that spun out of his stay at the Chester County home known as "Castle Bam." At a hearing last year, Margera told the judge he was getting drug and alcohol treatment.

Jess Margera, at the same court hearing, called his brother “a good dude when he’s not messed up,” but said he had exhibited troubling behavior for two decades and, while home, had been awake for days. Jess Margera suffered a ruptured eardrum in the altercation, while Margera’s girlfriend at the time called police when he kicked in her bedroom door, the brother testified.

At the time of Margera's June plea, lawyer William J. Brennan said Margera pleaded guilty to two summary offenses, and was clean, sober and productive a year after the arrest.

“You can really say he won his case before today just by turning his life around,” Brennan said.

I hope his kid has a chance at a decent life.

If this news of Bam brings you down, go check out Chad Muska’s social media pages for a cleanser. Dude owns a farm and has some supremely cute footage of some invasive groundhogs and other animals on his property.
He has as decent of a chance at life as any 6 year old who has fetal alcohol syndrome

It's kind of a shame, Jackass and CKY are to Tiktok what the Beatles were to music.

What, like $12?
