It’s funny that the only consistent design theme is smoke over garish colors, with a primary color being particularly grating. They eased into it with 2 and its white and red, but fucked the balance in Inquisition by making it black and Mountain Dew green. Now we’ve got purple and purple. It’s awful. It’s irredeemably terrible in a way that it’s impossible to imagine anyone finds it appealing. Find a line up of all the Dragon Age devs and I guarantee you the tranny dressed up in cheap hot topic mall goth or the tranny dressed up like Prince is the one behind it. Bonus points if either has dread with a purple highlight.

Although Veilguard will surely have some more retarded social commentary, I think the straight relationships will be better in Veilguard than they were in Inquisition, so that's a silver lining.

The straight man and lesbian options in Inquisition were either subpar or terrible.

In Inquisition I rode Iron Bull and romanced Dorian. Even if you're not gay, they're worth exploring due to the dynamic and depth, especially Dorian's arc.

If there's too much stuff in this game I don't like I'll probably eventually "procure it" for shits and giggles then go straight this time. 🏴‍☠️

Bellara and Harding seem like the best romances for a straight Rook. Harding was a good choice for the Inquisitor back then, but they only put 20% effort into her half assed "romance."

Taash seems like an okay option, but her voice actress is a retard so I'll hold judgement. I'm still not sure about Neve with her background and how I'd get along with her; I feel like I'd disagree with Neve a lot.

L take. Cassandra was fine and from what I've seen Female Elf Inquisitor and Solas is interesting too. Lets be real though the worst aspects of Bioware games are their romances. The only romances worth anything at all in their 3D games were Revan and Bastila, and Alistair and Human Noble Warden due to their plot relevance, but only due to their plot interactions.

Fine, leaves more Tali for the rest of us.

Josh Sawyer was right about romances.

When it comes to art direction and design, I remember being fairly repulsed by Origin's promotional material.
Characters completely sprinkled with red paint as Marylin Manson music is playing.
But the game redeemed itself somewhat with the title screen, and my hope in playing a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate germinated again:

Now we have purple in purple and bisexual lighting. In hindsight, what I would give for teenage angst dictated by committee.

Tali is a great character with an attractive personality and accent. Her romance is fine, but nothing extraordinary. IMO, that's true of all of Mass Effect romances which is not really a problem for that series as the games progress pretty quickly with a lot of run and gun and in universe plot time pressure. None of the romances are particularly tied to the plot as a result.

For example, Revan romancing Bastila significantly changes the impact of her imprisonment on the Leviathan and her subsequent turn to the darkside along with her potential redemption if Revan is lightsided. Or in contrast if Revan is darkside, she would be his apprentice and lover.

In Dragon Age Origins, human female noble Warden romancing Alistair has to reckon with him either dying (or the Warden) or sleeping with and impregnating Morrigan, unless you recruit Loghain and having him do it. In this case Alistair will depart the party if he is recruited and end the romance with the Warden. Also, if Alistair becomes king the Warden can marry him and become queen. There relationship makes his decision of marrying Anora, refusing kingship or deposing her more relevant. Also the warden revenging herself on Arl Howe who is an ally of Loghain who killed the previous king, Alistair's half brother is more interesting because of the relationship. (Upon reflection Morrigan's romance with a male Warden is also very good)

In Dragon Age Inquisition, a female elf can romance Solas and while there is some interesting lore exposition on elves, in the DLC trespassers I believe, Solas going dark god bent on remaking the world while the female elf Inquisitor tries to stop him while dying due to the mark is infinitely more interesting than almost all of the other relationships in the past five Bioware games. The ending scene is particularly compelling due to the relationship. Veilguard has probably shut that door, lol.

ME has a canon romance, and its Liara. I wish we got a full Samara romance tbh but its pretty obvious the game telegraphs Liara is Shepherd's number two. So much so Liara's "father" will call shepherd their girlfriend/boyfriend whether they are or not in a romance, and the scene where Liara puts time capsules is so clearly done with the romance in mind.

Now I like Liara more than some people, but she takes up a lot more space. Compared to Ashley/Kaidan which got a massive disservice in ME2 and Me3. The ME2 romances are fine-Garrus and Tali, Thane for the people that love sad stories. (Can you believe there are mods that let Thane live? When the very first thing he says too you is I'm dying?).

DA romances are a much more mixed bag. I love Leliana, straight or lesbian. Alistair and Zevran are fine, and Morrigan I honestly felt wasn't very rewarding. Though its not bad.

DA2 romances-yeah, its Merrill, then Fenris. I once did an Isabela romance, and while I feel like that fits a certain kind of Hawke, it just felt underbaked. I have never done an Anders romance, nor will I.

DAI romances are...really up for dispute. Cassandra's romance had a literal fetch quest, but the turbo masculine warrior woman is suprise...the only straight romance of the game for a male character. Josephine's is alright. I have not done the Blackwall romance, but the cullen romance was the first I did. I did a Solavallen playthrough recently-I can see why people like it, but I felt it was kinda unrewarding. Its worth at least watching on YT for story and lore purposes. The Iron Bull romance was the most sensual.

Really Bioware romances have certain archetypes.

Jack/Miranda/Cassandra-bitchy ice queen whose heart you melt.
Ashley/Kaidan/Cullen-basically just normal and relatively drama free.
Thane and Solas-basically drama central.
Sera/Jacob-doing this romance is an exercise in masochism.

Now that's finished I've started the assassin DLC and already I'm sick of this fugly Tallis nigger. I do not want more melee party members when they all end up killing eachother with AoE damage.
the assassin DLC is so aids, even though the qunari is one of the main antagonists in the game, they literally invaded and massacred your city yet you have no choice but to help the qunari and help protect their spies/assassins that they have put in all across thedas.

calling us, the OG fans of the series tourists? we've been there from the start, the ones they're pandering to are the tourists who most likely haven't even played the original game or DA2. it's sad to see all these writers who's been there for decades who worked on the earlier works not only trashtalk their fans but ruin their own work to pander to their new woke tourist fans...

Not only this disregard for concerned fans about the sociopolitical direction they're going with, but they're fucking over people who bought and played the past games. There is no Dragon Keep or tarot card system of choosing your world state in Veilguard.

Out of the three previous games... You only get four choices, and only from Inquisition, to alter your world state in Veilguard. Because fuck what you did during Origins, 2, and even most of Inquisition, right?

Bioware yet again shitting on players and nullifying your important choices.

And on top of all that it's a Felicia Day vanity project.
Just horrible. I cut DA2 a lot of slack but fuck that DLC.

Busches did an interview with IGN and is hamfisting the Inquisitor to care about Solas and feeling guilty for his actions. My Inquisitor hated Solas and would not feel guilty, moreso betrayed and vengeful.

If there's one choice that matters in a Bioware game I've learned now, it is not to buy it. My mind is made up.

I apologize for getting so emotional, but Dragon Age is essentially like having a cancer stiken child ripped from your arms and groomed into taking titty skittles. You have to grieve and learn to accept they are killing someone you loved. More dumb shit is gonna come out about Veilguard, just wait.

Are people only now finding out that Bioware "choices" mean absolutely nothing in their games? lmao
I liked the idea behind savegames impacting future games, but the implementation has just been getting worse with time. I mean, what can you expect from a studio who can't even get it's endings right and thinks that giving you a choice of your favorite ice cream flavor as a trilogy ender will satisfy their fans?
That was at their peak BTW

We know the game is woke, but is it confirmed that the gameplay is shit, too?

If anything, its the new developers that are the tourist for not remembering the older games. Gaider is either lying (maybe not to us but himself) that DA was always inclusive or he's going senile.
Tbf Bioware was always 90's inclusive, but modern "inclusive" is a whole new beast.

Btw: Mass Effect 3 has been 30 years ago....

I think the straight relationships will be better in Veilguard
What straight relationships?
Nobody is going to be straight in that game lol

I heard there will be rival romances? So if I, say, "straight' romance" that one legged Kamala Harris looking chick, will I have to fight the they/them qunari mutant freak for her lol

For all its faults, Inquisition had an amazing title screen for when you pressed new game

Is bioware gone if this game flops?
I think EA is a little too self conscious about killing studios these days and the BioWare name will still be valuable to some extent. They're definitely not getting out of this unscathed though.
What straight relationships?
Nobody is going to be straight in that game lol
The villains will be. It's going to be Dorian's dad all over again and then some.

Also just for a laugh I want to point out that trannies made a wikipedia page for Krem.

Worse, they immediately give Hawke an opportunity to flirt with her like she's a walking pheromone spray. Why? Not to mention, her skills are so ass that she always dies the moment the enemy sneezes. The whole game is basically Hawke + 2 companions and oh yeah, the bitch that spends nearly all her non-cutscene moments dead.

As for Gaider, be gentle with him. Dragon Age is his peak, and he never did make it on his own as an author or a game developer extraordinaire. He was a fish in a small pond in BioWare, and now that he's out in the sea, he's a nobody for a long time now. That has to hurt.
