A cancellation is way too drastic and would tank their stock even more than if it was a failure. The game is already done, for all intents and purposes. The only way this gets cancelled is if the shareholders want the company to go private.

Your totally wrong, the fact that they are making up or it with free DLC pretty much proves it. You don't have DLC without a game to play it in.

I think, given the offer of free DLC and the Steam pivot and the reconsideration of fan outreach that something very bad was dug up in their customer feedback surveys. Not necessarily anti-woke stuff but more a general feeling among people of all political stripes that Ubisoft games are bad. Their name has become a synonym for generic C minus games and they know it. I eagerly await the outcome of all this.

Easiest fix is to rename and make Yasuke a fictional character as has always been the case with Ass Creed characters instead of ramming in the 'We wuz historically-accurate samuraiz' narrative (which was actually pseudohistory pushed by a single professor in a book). That way Ubisoft could have always defended from the point of fiction rather than history.

That, and making the choice more like previous games where you pick an either-or main character and the other essentially poofs from existence during the game.

One guy sent a letter and in it he proves that he pretty much doesn't know Ubisoft's business (I think he called Assassin's Creed Assassin Creeds or some other obvious tell) but regardless of that, the stock tells the story, Ubisoft is in trouble.

If you're willing to put your tinfoil hat on, you can notice that Tencent has only continued to buy Ubislop shares as the stocks have gone down and is now owns 10% of the stakes, the second largest owner behind the Guillemont family. It may be an order from the Chinese to insult the Japanese.

That said, I mostly blame this on incompetence, especially considering the Oda symbol shenanigans. All of this has been a poorly conceived, badly researched, and horrendously executed endeavor.

Tencent could be on state orders to use Ubisoft to remind Japan why it's the bitch of western mandates. And Tencent could be eying up what remains of Ubisoft for mobile efforts, much as pachinko concerns overtook Konami and original SNK.

The Guillemot's are no Arnault's and Ubisoft's 'talent' is worth fuck all to the Chinese AAA gaming effort these days, at least beyond IPs. Japanese have contracted them for years, and we know they can do competent homegrown singleplayer when they really want to.

but thats been their reputation for over a decade. the last "good" games people liked at launch would have to be AC4. back in 2013. Each new game was either divisive or had some controversy or was shit for another dumb reason. I think its just how hard the Japs are shitting on them about this stuff that's really causing them to panic.

I've heard a theory that Guillemont has been deliberately tanking the stock so his family can buy up more of it for pennies but it'd be hilarious if the chinks ended up cucking him out of that scheme.

This was certainly inevitable but it's actually so fucking impressive and depressive that they have been an exceptional normie whisperer in open world games for 10 years. Even I had my doubts until a few years ago but it was gotta be impossible to milk normies this long with this mediocre of games. Sports and CoD junkies do their thing because they are basicly monopolies, Ubishit was doing this when there were better competition all around them.

I have been praying for this moment technically since PoP 2008 but more specifically AC3 even tho I quite like AC4 because they could have just made the same game over and over again but chose to legitimately get worse with every single release. I truly cannot put into words how happy I am see Ubishit get what they deserve. I was quite pessimistic for a while since Valhalla was actually the most profitable AC and their stonk was sky high in 2021 but just in 3 years shit finally hit the normies.

People getting sick of them started with Far Cry 6 I guess but in the last 12 months they truly speedran the shit out of bankruptcy race with blue furries(remember that shit?), lost crown, skull and bones, xdefiant and star wars in a fucking row in less than a year with shadows on the horizon.

its such an obvious way to get more control in a company i just assumed it would have been one of those global laws. Like whats stopping any stock holder from forcing say Boeing or Ford from designing something deliberately meant to kill people and cratering the stock price so you can buy a majority and finally demand they start making good products again and reap the rewards.

its crazy how FC6 just failed so quickly considering how much people liked the other titles,
